I entered the house through the back door into the den, the television was on. My son had left it on as we do to provide the dog with some sound of human activity while we are out. Yes we humans are a strange crew when it comes to our dogs. But the UFC was on and I sat and sure enough was drawn into to the spectacle of men, and now sometimes ladies, beating up on each other. These are modern day gladiators in the octagon. They are fearsome in their physical power and in the ability they have to deliver punishment without any seeming concern. The fury was not unlike the spectacle taking place in political circles these days.
I was rather content to watch for sometime, rather than switching it over to one of those politics as blood feud channels which have become so tiresome of late.
As I watched I could not help but make the comparison of the brutality of the sport with the brutality of Washington political engagement. I decided to forego the political scene for awhile.
This morning I successfully avoided any of the network nonsense regarding wiretaps, healthcare, taxes, deficits of spending and trade. I started to feel human, well almost human. I walked the dog
On arrival at work, I turned on my computer and was met with the following story:
Woof Woof
It was such a nice story, with a nice ending that it made me greatly happy. We humans are strange when it comes to our dogs, So tonight instead of politics I think I will watch You Tube videos of dogs . Dogs chasing sheep, dogs greeting returning college kids and soldiers, dogs taking care of people, dogs taking care of kittens. DOGS < DOGS
It will make for a more pleasant day. I am starting to think that we need to stop investing so much in the political action of the nation as it is not making us into better people and start being more like dogs, loyal and loving and friendly.
