Vietnam Airlines: Stop Shipping Monkeys for Experiments
|
Dear friends, Just imagine being torn away from your family, thrown into a small crate and transported across the world to be prodded and tested on. Seems like a nightmare, but it's the reality for many monkeys caught in the wild for the research industry. How can we stop this cruel practice? A big step is getting airlines to stop allowing the shipment of these animals in the first place. That's why it was such a big win when in 2013, Vietnam Airlines joined several other major carriers to publicly announce that they would no longer ship monkeys for the research industry. But in 2016, Vietnam Airlines was caught breaking their own prohibition by shipping several primates to Russia. Airlines play an important role in ending the vicious cycle of animal testing. So it's critical that we make it clear to Vietnam Airlines that we won't turn a blind eye to the fact that they broke their ban. We already know that when enough of us come together to rally for animals, we can make a difference. Major airlines like American, United and Delta listened when activists pressured them to stop shipping monkeys for experiments. But the difference we make only goes so far as airlines keep complying. We need to send a strong message to Vietnam Airlines to not only make sure they reinstate their ban on monkey shipments for the research industry, but also to send a strong message to all airlines proving that we won't let up the fight. Thank you,
