Velen van jullie weten dat mijn hart in Peru ligt. Ik vraag even jullie tijd om dit te lezen.
Meer dan de helft van Peru is getroffen door zware overstromingen en aardverschuivingen door het weerfenomeen El Niño. In totaal kwamen daarbij in de afgelopen drie maanden al meer dan
85 mensen om het leven en 118.000 mensen verloren hun woning.
Zij hebben ons nodig.

An unusual bout of heavy rains powered by El Niño conditions have drenched Peru with 10 times more rainfall than normal, causing rivers to overflow, and mudslides to destroy roads and houses. More than 85 deaths have been attributed to the flooding, which has isolated hundreds and displaced thousands. Rescue crews continue to search for those in need, while some residents are now beginning clean-up and recovery work. Officials have warned that the wetter weather might last another month or more.
