I know that many are in dire need. We also know this site has many charlatans and pretenders. Send money if you wish, but let's not turn this site into a begging machine.
If you know someone, fine. If not, send at your own risk. Let's not start attracting those spreading info about how gullible the people on this site are. We do not know who anyone is.
Yes, it is good to be charitable, after-all many of us are here just for that purpose. If this site did not exist what would people do? I just sense something iffy here. I am sure some seeking assistance are genuine. Some will not be. Many have great need, but there are those who seek only to take advantage and this is just a joke to them.
Let's not start a trend here. Perhaps we can find another way. Can stories be checked? Personal details be submitted to say Patrick or an associate? (I am sure Patrick is busy enough). Can we ensure that people are who they say they are? Perhaps protective measures could or should be put in place, to protect all concerned. I just feel compelled to say this. Something doesn't seem quite kosher. I just don't want anyone to be taken advantage of, if indeed this site is to become begging central 101. Everyone take what I have shared as you wish. Perhaps a place could be set aside for those to donate and apply, so the site doesn't get clogged with sob stories. If indeed this is what people here collectively desire.
That's all.

P.s. If someone has no money and is giving their stuff away for free, please use your head and ask a few dollars for each item. Whatever you can get. It is common sense. Use it!
