ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!
Just after teaching his disciples to pray, today Jesus tells them: “Ask and you shall receive…” Our heavenly Father graciously gives beyond our expectations, and those who know and trust in His love, pray with great boldness. Prayer flows from our love for God and his love for us. This helps us to share this love with others, for God has poured his love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5: 5).
Jesus is very clear that when we ask, we will receive, when we seek, we will find, and when we knock, the door will be opened to you. Sometimes we can ask, and ask, and beg, and it appears that our prayer goes unanswered, at least in the way we want it to be answered. This begs the question, “Then how do I pray and what do I pray for?” Ideally, every prayer of intercession we utter should be for the Lord’s will to be done, nothing more, and nothing less. Only His perfect will.
Let us reflect today, upon the way we pray. Let us change our prayer so that it seeks the good things God wants to bestow, rather than the many things we want God to bestow on us. It will be hard at first to detach from our own ideas and our own will, but in the end, we will be blessed with many good things from God.
Prayer: Lord, I do pray that Your will be done in all things. I desire to surrender to You above all, and to trust in Your perfect plan. Help me, dear Lord, to abandon my own ideas and desires, and to seek Your will always. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
Holy Habit for Lent: PATIENCE – Lord help me to inculcate the habit of PATIENCE, May I be patient for your will to be fulfilled in my life and not be anxious on its completion. Amen.
