Hmmmm.. interesting...I was watching the swearing-in of the new Treasury Secretary Mnuchin... for his "few words" to the cameras after getting sworn in, he made the comment "I want to thank you for this extraordinary opportunity to serve you and the country as Secretary of Treasury.
It has been a great experience to travel around the country with you for the last year... seeing so many parts of this country and meeting hundreds of business leaders..."
hmmm... as someone said earlier... maybe he has been Treasury Secretary for a while now.. just not officially.

Dong strengthens against US dollar in early 2017

HÀ NỘI — The dong has strengthened against the US dollar unexpectedly in the first two weeks of trading in 2017.
This is contrary to what has happened in the previous years when the dong’s value dropped against the dollar ahead of Tết (Lunar New Year), during which time the demand for the dollar is high to meet payment requirements.
At commercial banks, the dollar has weakened by nearly 1 per cent, from VNĐ22,790 to VNĐ22,600 per dollar. In the unofficial market, the dollar’s devaluation has been higher at 2 per cent, from VNĐ23,400 to VNĐ22,700 per dollar.
On January 9, the central bank even increased the reference exchange rate of the dollar against the dong by VNĐ275 to stop the declining momentum. The State Bank of Việt Nam’s intervention to prevent the dong from strengthening too much against the dollar is a rare move. Usually, the central bank intervenes when fluctuations cause the dollar to strengthen significantly against the dong. This was only the second time the central bank made such an intervention in the past year to curb the devaluation of the dollar. The monetary regulator lastly prevented the dollar from falling below VNĐ22,300 in early February 2016.
When the US dollar depreciates deeply, intervention is necessary to prevent the dong’s appreciation from affecting the economy’s competitiveness and exports, in the context of many currencies in the Asian region being devalued significantly. Việt Nam’s export turnover increased 8.6 per cent year-on-year to US$175.9 billion in 2016, missing the whole-year growth target of 10 per cent.
The devaluation of the dollar in the domestic market allows the central bank to continuously buy the currency and increase the foreign reserves, which hit a record high of $41 billion in 2016.
Experts said some factors have supported the stabilisation of the dollar/dong exchange rate, such as an abundance of remittances at year-end, a weaker dollar in the global market and a more stable yuan.
Reuters reported that the dollar hit its lowest level in five weeks against a basket of currencies on Thursday. It said the currency was on course for its worst week since November, hit by a loss of confidence in US reflation trade a day after a press conference by US President-elect Donald Trump.
The dollar weakened 1.4 per cent against the yen to 113.76 yen, its weakest level in five weeks, while the euro hit its highest in five weeks against the dollar at $1.0684. The sterling hit a six-day high of $1.2317 against the dollar on Wednesday, rebounding from a three-month low of $1.2038.
Analysts said it is unclear how long the dollar would weaken, Reuters reported. — VNS

Indonesia Zeroes In on Currency

JAKARTA – Dutch tourist Margaret Masteling didn’t know one of her most memorable sights in Indonesia would be right on its bank notes. The rupiah has zeros – lots of them.
“At first it was confusing to see many zeros,” Masteling said in a hotel lobby here. “But I got used to it after a few days.”
All the zeros can be dizzying to a tourist being asked for 20,000 rupiah for a tall Starbucks Americano (about $2). And, the government says, all those zeros slow down cash transfers and hurt the Southeast Asia country’s global image.
That may change soon.

Thank you Cole for this post about the Vietnamese dong I still say that it's the underdog and it's going to surprise everyone and frankly I don't think it's going to take a year because their economy is growing fast. I appreciate anyone who puts anything up about the VND. Thank you again Cole.

Nam is the child of China .............. China loves to devalue and take advantage of world trade .............. IF .............. China devalued as they threaten do You think the Dong would Revalue ? It would be dragged down .......... Just look at it's currency value fluctuation in the last two years.
Nam IMO ............. HAS to obey China in all things or they would be suffocated by their rule over them. USA would be helpless to only watch ................ Because war would be ............ Illogical when there are other markets more stable and secured.
Sooooooooo ................ i and You need to pray China OBEYS President Trump to .............. PLAY FAIR !!!

UN declares its readiness to support reconciliation in Iraq

My post today is to provide some additional support ideas after the RV. I'm In healthcare Insurance and all types of financial products.
I had my securities licenses for many years but non renewed them when I got into the Health insurance market. My financial planning suggestions here are for your information only and IMO.
Here are some bullet points to think about and act on if you haven't.
****Please get advise from HIGHLY RATED TAX AND TRUST ADVISORS.
Check with the better Business Bureau on all advisors.
There is no room for error when it comes to your money and this blessing.
****If you are worried about predators trying to come after you after the blessing, there are several ways to protect your $.
YOU DON"T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR NAME! Explanation below.
(1) Put all your assets in individual Trust. Examples of this are anything you own of real value. Cars, if you own them need to be in there own trust. Why? If you get in a car accident and are at fault, you can be sued. If your car is in a trust they can only sue you and break up the trust relating to that car or assets in the cars trust. I suggest you lease your cars. If you lease them, you don't own them, the lease company does.(Please talk to trust attorney about this and liabilities from all) There are many ways to lease vehicles and still maintain a strong credit rating. Put your money in an escrow account within the trust to make lease payments instead of paying off the debt all at once.
(2)Separate all business entities in these trust or set up LLC companies for these business entities within these trust. You must be smart at protecting your $. There is no limit on the trust you can have to protect yourself from greedy lawyers. A wealthy investor not only looks at the return on investments BUT THE RETURN OF THEIR INVESTMENT. Avoid scams to take your money and promise big returns, only to lose all your blessing to predators.
(3) Set up a Foundation and put your separate trusts and companies with these trusts. This includes life insuranceBecome a paid employee of the foundation and take enough income out to satisfy your living requirements. Your family can also be employees. Look at how the Clintons have put everything into their foundation and get paid as employees while protecting their $ within the foundation.
We must all stick together as Gods children and be there after the blessing to help each other. Family should mean something to all of us here. After all, many of us don't have to be here.
