Version française en bas - English version below Receptie steuncampagne rechtszaak tegen Koerdische mediahuizen, politici en activisten Bij deze willen we u hartelijk uitnodigen voor een receptie opvrijdag 24 februari, vanaf 18h in De Markten in Brussel. Met deze receptie willen we iedereen bedanken die de campagne gesteund heeft tegen de juridische vervolging van een aantal belangrijke Koerdische mediahuizen, activisten en politici. Zij worden in België vervolgd voor ‘terrorisme’ op aandringen van de Turkse staat, die zich burgerlijke partij heeft gesteld. Tijdens de receptie wordt er meer uitleg gegeven over het verloop van het proces door advocate Joke Callewaert en voormalig Koerdisch parlementslid Zübeyir Aydar – lid van de bestuursraad van het Koerdistan Nationaal Congres (KNK) en één van de beklaagden in het proces. Waarna er onder een lekker Koerdisch hapje en een drankje op een ontspannen manier bijgepraat kan worden. Zoals u ondertussen waarschijnlijk al vernomen heeft, betekende de eerste uitspraak in deze rechtszaak een grote opluchting voor alle betrokkenen. De Brusselse Raadkamer heeft immers op 3 november 2016 beslist dat het Turks-Koerdische conflict beschouwd moet worden als een ‘gewapend conflict’ en dat de terrorisme-wetgeving dus niet van toepassing kan zijn. De steuncampagne tijdens het eerste proces was hierin een sterke stem tegen het misbruik van antiterreurwetten voor het vervolgen van politieke opposanten. Niet veel later ging het Federaal Parket echter tegen dit vonnis in beroep, waardoor de juridische vervolging opnieuw verder gaat. Tijdens de receptie zullen we dan ook bespreken hoe de steuncampagne verdergezet kan worden. Nous pourrons ensuite partager un moment convivial autour d’un verre et de délicatesses kurdes. Vous l’aurez peut-être appris entre-temps, la première  décision judiciaire a été un immense soulagement pour les accusés. Le 3 novembre 2016, la Chambre du Conseil de Bruxelles a statué que le conflit turco-kurde devait être considéré comme un “conflit armé” et donc que la législation anti-terroriste ne s’y appliquait pas. Notre campagne de sensibilisation lors du premier procès fut un appui précieux contre l’érosion des libertés et des  droits démocratiques et contre les abus de la législation antiterroriste dans la persécution des opposants en Belgique. Entre-temps, le Parquet fédéral a fait appel de cette décision, ce qui signifie que la bataille juridique va se poursuivre. Lors de la réception, nous aurons l’occasion d’évoquer les suites à donner à notre campagne de solidarité. They are being prosecuted on “terrorism” charges at the insistence of the Turkish state, which has pressed charges as a civil party in the Belgian court case.
