Good morning Loop :) Thank you!

This is right in line with what the IMF SBA agreement wants them to be doing. It is essential that they have a fully actionable budget and here they are saying that they have got the the salaries for 2017 covered.

It just means that they have the salaries factored into the budget and are expressing that they intend to pay them. Which is a big step forward for them..IMO. The monetary change has nothing to do with it. One dinar will always equal one dinar. So if I get paid 50,000 dinars a week, I will still be getting 50,000 dinars a week. What will change is what I can purchase with the money.

Iraq went from collecting 1/2 a billions dinars in customs duties in Jan 2016 to finishing the year with 24 billion dinars collect for the entire year. More than quadrupling January 2016 custom duties every month. And they are still fixing working on fixing some of the issues that have come to light at some of the points of entry. Again this is right in line with the IMF's SBA.

I always thought that Abadi was in on the corruption.. Since he served in some capacity on Maliki's staff... He received bribe monies, and thus is subject to being outed as well if other names are given... Stands to reason why Maliki was able to stay in the palace, and is still around... Had there not been others in power in on it, Maliki would have been in jail, or executed... iMHO
tman23 says to popeye7(9:56 AM):
As the reader can see........ it is not about the money, it is about the power..... And the names on the list are the creme of the crop...just think of the minions below them that only have hundreds of millions and not billions.... National Reconciliation is a challenge because somebody has to give up something......something being relinquish some power to Baghdad..... AND I JUST DON'T SEE THAT HAPPENING ...IMO...

The love of money is the root of all evil as the Good Book declares, and can certainly help one, or a group to weld power... In the hands of the wrong people, well, we have corruption... No principles, and this is certainly much larger than Iraq..
popeye7 says(10:06 AM):
I believe this will definitely serve as motivation to help the people of Iraq... In the form of an increase in value... Money talks, and can serve as a diversion as well...
popeye7 says(10:08 AM):
With all of this corruption, the world seems to still be willing to pour money into Iraq.. IMF is happy with their progress... Interesting..

Rex Tillerson said in his conformation hearings...... Governments are always changing and you cannot dictate contracts and agreements in presumptions of what they will be or become..... otherwise there would never be any deals or agreements.....
tman23 says(10:13 AM):
For the second time in less than a month, President Donald Trump has talked about how America should have taken Iraq’s oil — a war crime, according to the Geneva Convention.
“I always said take the oil,” Trump told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly in the second part of an extensive interview that was aired on Monday. “If you would have taken the oil there would be no ISIS because they used that to fuel —”
O’Reilly interjected, “If you took the oil, the Iraq oil, you would have to put in US troops to do that and then that would have started another round —”
Trump finished, “And you would have made a lot of money with the oil, and you would have had assets, and to the victor belong the spoils, and all of that. But forget that.”
This isn’t the first time that Trump talked about the possibility of seizing Iraq’s oil. Last month the president delivered a speech at the CIA Memorial Wall in Langley, Virginia and implied that “maybe we’ll have another chance” to confiscate Iraq’s oil.
“If we kept the oil, you probably wouldn’t have ISIS because that’s where they made their money in the first place,” Trump said. “So we should have kept the oil, but, OK, maybe we’ll have another chance.”

For a third year in a row, Iraqi authorities have resorted to shutting down the Internet to prevent students from cheating on exams. Network monitoring group Dyn Research has documented four outages between 1 and 6 February. These disruptions begin around 8:30 local time and last for an hour......The one-hour outages, intended to prevent students from cheating on 6th grade placement exams, are expected to last for a week, according to local media quoting the Iraqi ministry of telecommunication. Internet outages and disruptions to prevent exam cheating have now become common in Iraq....... https://globalvoices.org/2017/02/07/...he-third-time/

ERBIL — The leader of the Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s movements are being monitored by Iraqi authorities, according to the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s words in a recent interview.
“He is almost alone at the moment. He doesn’t have many people to trust. He is in isolation, we’re monitoring his movements,” al-Abadi told France24.
“His communication with other terrorists is very low. In many times, it is almost nonexistent,” he added.
Moreover, the US-led anti-Islamic State (IS) coalition has “killed and eliminated” a great number of al-Baghdadi’s close aides and has “almost crushed Daesh militarily,” al-Abadi said...... However, when asked to specify which part of Mosul the IS leader was currently hiding in, al-Abadi refused to comment.
