Senior ISIS leader Abu Abdullah was recently killed in a “work accident” when he was trying to rig a bomb on a roadside in southern Mosul and the device accidentally went off. A fellow member of the Sunni terrorist organization was also killed in the explosion.

Described as a bomb expert, Abdullah was a second-tier leader in the terrorist organization and had previously been responsible for dozens of detonations.

He was renowned for rigging buildings with detonation devices as the terror cell tried to inflict as much damage as possible while they are being forced out of Mosul by the Iraqi army backed by the US-led coalition.

A local source in Nineveh province disclosed that ISIL has started using female fighters in suicide attacks against Iraqi forces after a large number of the group's male militants escaped battlefields in Mosul city.

The sources said that ISIL has used at least 12 women from the group's Female Battalion for carrying out suicide attacks on the Iraqi forces in the Eastern part of Mosul after devastating attacks and advances of the Iraqi forces caused ISIL's male fighters flee the battlefields in the Northern city.

"Two very young daughters of Abu Ons al-Sahmi, an ISIL commander, are among the 12-member female suicide attack group. Al-Shami had previously handed over his daughters to the ISIL's security forces as gifts to be used in suicide operations," the sources said on the condition of anonymity.

A security source in Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces confirmed on Thursday that the Iraqi forces repelled an ISIL attack near Tal Afar airport, West of the city of Mosul.
