Carbon storage and flux in four soil or sediment biomes.
There are various estimates of the source–sink capacity of terrestrial and aquatic or marine systems in relation to buffering increasing global atmospheric carbon levels (table 1). Existing carbon storage in soils may be up to 2.1 × 103 petagrams (Lal 2003), whereas aquatic (marine and freshwater together) carbon storage in sediments may be up to 1.0 × 107petagrams (Cole et al. 2007, Mackenzie et al. 2004).
Количество орг С в почвах, осадках в пресн. экосистемах, осадках в морск. экосистемах:

Explanation:
petagram (plural petagrams). A unit of mass equal to 1,000,000,000,000,000 (1015) grams. Symbol: Pg = 1 миллиард  тонн.
1 Tonne (t) = 1000 Kilogramm = 1 Million Gramm = 1 Megagramm (Mg) = 106 g
