THE WEEK IN RIGHTS | JANUARY 26, 2017 |

| The administration of United States President Donald Trump is moving quickly to implement his agenda for change in the US. Many of the policies and pledges made by Trump and his cabinet nominees pose profound threats to the rights of people both within the US and abroad. This week alone, Trump signed an executive order to reinstate a global gag rule on abortion, putting women's health and lives at risk globally. There are plans to temporarily halt the entry of refugees and citizens of several Muslim-majority countries into the US. Another action orders the planning and construction of his proposed border wall between the US and Mexico. And a reported refugee ban puts vulnerable people from Syria and other places in immediate risk. There is a lot happening and a lot more to come in the administration's first 100 days. Here is where Human Rights Watch experts will provide rolling coverage and analysis. |
