THE FESTIVITIES OF YERONISOS
1 June to 30 June 08:00 — 17:00
Also known as Holy Island, Yeronisos has been a popular destination for travellers over centuries. The excavations completed in 2016 brought to light facts about the Ptolemaic period as well as Ionic style architecture findings. As part of the European Capital of Culture events, 2017 will be the year during which students, local people, archaeologists, seamen and fishermen will celebrate the completion of the excavations and invite us to a series of activities related to Yeronisos, such as lectures, tours and festive concerts.
At the same time, an international sailing competition around Yeronisos will be organised in order to highlight the islands’ natural beauty and the region’s archaeological importance.
