Dear all,
The Hungarian government announced today that they have decided to start
detaining all asylum seekers again - so basically completely do away
with the open camps.
There's no draft legislation we can read yet, but they are completely
mixing up their own legislative terminology . Will share with you the
details (max. length etc.) as soon as we have any.
Basically this means that more people will also receive a status in
Hungary as they cannot abscond, and if they seek asylum elsewhere after
they face bilateral deportation back to Hungary. This is already
happening and is a huge issue, but will in all likelihood be even a
bigger issue.
Of anyone has expertise/knowledge on successful cases in Western Europe
where people granted a status elsewhere have been granted another one,
please contact us.
