We bought the employment agency from an old man, who had run it by himself for almost 40 years, it was his baby. Our Licence number was #11. I think the ones being issued that year were around 40,000. My first thought was, this old guy must be doing something right to have stayed in business this long. My ex K and I had both had some experience in the employment business so it seemed like natural fit and we felt we could up the game a bit by adding temporary and executive search.

The last thing the old man said to us as he left the office was "please take good care of the people in those file cabinets, they all need a helping hand and a job and the companies that are in there, are my friends, so treat them well."

To say I was aggressive in business is an understatement. We got office set up and ready to rock in no time. I knew we needed to fill our databases with both people and jobs to make this work, so I placed a full page ad in the local newspaper with a big bold headlines that read

"Jobs, Jobs and more Jobs, We Got Jobs!"

The next morning as we came down the street to our office there was a line of people that started almost 4 blocks before we got there. I asked K, "What do you think all these people are standing out here for?" She just looked at me like I was from outer space and said "JOBS!"

As we followed the line to the front door of our office my mom and dad, who were helping us get everything set up, were standing there talking to those in the front of the line. The 4 of us gathered inside the office to come up with a plan for how to handle the masses outside. Lucky for us K had just printed up a couple thousand applications, to last us, we thought, for the year. My dad saw the look of concern on my face and he did what he all ways did, in my life, when I needed him to, he took charge.

"OK this is what we are going to do, no one out there in that line is going to leave here feeling worse than they did when they came here, weather we get them a job today our not. Let's split up theses applications, go out there and talk to each and every one of those people, tell them to go home, fill out the applications and then call us to schedule an interview." 8 hours later we handed out the last of the applications we had in the office.

After it was over we all sat down and my dad lead us in a prayer, "Lord bless all those poor unfortunate souls who came here today looking for a hand up. Let this day be a lesson that their are always those in need we may not see. Help us to have the strength to do everything in our power to make as many of their lives better for having come our way and in Jesus name we ask for Jobs, Jobs and more Jobs."

That was almost 30 years ago, how many people you think are going to show up when you place that full page ad today, telling those out there that you got Jobs, Jobs, Good Paying, Rewarding Jobs!

You better be ready so you don't have to get ready and do me a favor, take good care of all the people in the filing cabinets called life, they all need a hand up, a friend and a job.

Love you all now let's get to work!
