GALATEA'S MYTHS - Castle Square - 14 & 15 July

Galatea's Myths

The myth of Galatea has been pivotal to the development of Pafos’ identity and it has turned into a pattern for the Open Air Factory. As the myth has it, Pygmalion asks Aphrodite to breathe life into his sculpture, Galatea, with whom he has fallen in love. The city of Pafos has been named after the fruit of their love, their son Pafos. Dance Cyprus Company presents a performance inspired by this founding myth, choreographed by Davide Bombana. The performance includes dancers from Cyprus and Italy. The Cyprus Youth Orchestra will accompany the performance, conducted by Yiorgos Kountouris. Parallel to this event, a series of educational programmes under the same title, as well as exhibitions and workshops take place promoting dance culture in Cyprus
