Eating the Globe: Finland

Correct me if I'm wrong, Edvin.

The macaroni casserole (makaronilaatikko) is a Finnish comfort food. Many families have this once a week. I decided to make it tonight. I used this recipe. It's essentially ground beef, cheddar cheese, onions, milk, and elbow macaroni. The only seasonings are salt, black pepper, and nutmeg(!). The recipe calls for serving it with ketchup.

It's a very simple meal and with ketchup, it's perfect. Without ketchup, it's pretty bland.

This has given me the courage and motivation to cook more foreign meals.
