Basra held a meeting with the Committee of Council members and Arab Gulf Studies Centre of Basra to discuss preparations for the establishment of an international political economic Conference.
The head of the Planning Commission and Council continue Eng Mansouri arose in the statement {Euphrates news} copy today that "the meeting will address four major themes in the Conference {future of Basra under current challenges} which takes place over two days at the Centre of economic, political and social, cultural, historical and geographical axis add to agree to put up 30 local search and five international research."
Mansouri noted that "recommendations presented to the Board at its next meeting for approval to allocate funds to establish a Conference which will sponsor and support Basra in the coming days."
The Conference will include scientific and academic proposals and solutions to many outstanding problems in the province, especially in the economic and social side as well as find new sources of financing to Basra. "
Research Center Director said Basra and the Persian Gulf in Basra University Fahad mezban primary goal "of the Conference was to develop a strategy and future plans for dealing with the problems of preservation and utilization by government institutions and the private and public sectors. As well as natural and human potential of Basra and its role in the financing of the general budget of the country.

showed the International Monetary Fund, on Sunday, satisfaction of Iraq 's efforts in the field ready to meet the credit requirements of the program, while functioning in accordance with the confirmed timings indicated by the program.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance received (range Press), a copy of it, that " the Iraqi side, held a program to prepare the credit meetings with the International Monetary Fund for the period from 15-19 / 1/2017 in the city of Baku , capital of Azerbaijan, in order to prepare for the meetings of the second review of the program to be held in March next month , "noting that" the meeting was attended by Deputy Finance Minister Fadhil Nabi Othman, and Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq and the head of the Federal Office of financial supervision and financial adviser to Mr. Prime Minister and experts in finance, planning and oil ministries and the Central Bank of Iraq and the Kurdistan region. "
The statement added, " The meeting discussed the level of implementation of the general budget for 2016, as well as discuss the extent to which the general budget for 2017 with the Stand -By program funding mechanisms budget deficit in 2017".

The MoF is to submit a strategy to ensure that the correct taxes (Duties) are being charged at the ports. The SBA gives a timeline of the end of Feb 2017. When they not only have a strategy to address this they are implementing a process and not at the end of February, not at the end January, but now.

Question for everyone if a merchant in Iraq needs to buy goods in a different country how to they do this?

There are a couple of ways. The first would be a contact the vendor and send them the payment for the good and they ship the products to you. This way leaves they buyer exposed because how do they know that this vendor will honor their agreement. The second way and more common then not is by using letters of credit. This the buyer contact the seller they agree upon a price, the buyer goes to his bank and get a letter of credit for the amount, the banks sends the proof that the amount is available upon delivery, and the buyer sends the goods.

With that in mind do you see how big linking the banks to the customs is? With the letter of credit there is no way that they will not know the cost of the goods entering the country and they will be able to apply the appropriate taxes (Duties). Truly a brilliant solution....
