Carte Blanche
Carte Blanche theatre company – based in Viborg, Denmark – presents productions of international interest, characterised by innovation, experiential theatre and viewer interaction. Their performances are brilliantly linked to the locations in which they are shown as well as with other forms of expression, connecting with theatres, libraries and educational institutions. For the company it is crucial to integrate the audience into the performance as active participants. Carte Blanche leads the audience into poetic encounters that allow them to explore and stand on the edge of what can be understood and explained.
Through their performances they create space for reflection and recognition, for eye-opening encounters – inviting their audiences to stop, be curious and ask questions about the way they as individuals meet and experience themselves and the world. Carte Blanche works in a field of tension between theatre and installation, where the staging and spaces unfold their own performative effect.
The company has been working together since the year 2000 and the artistic director Sara Topsøe-Jensen had previously worked with the acclaimed director Enrique Vargas and his Teatro de los Sentidos, before starting with Carte Blanche, which has so far toured in 25 countries.
