The intensification of the attack of the state and the bosses in the majority of society
continues, through the plundering of social wealth. The tight grid that have set up around
us even creates favorable conditions for the growing erosion of social achievements of
previous decades. ---- Already under attack they have entered and basic social goods, such
as electricity, water, food, health, housing. Especially for the first home, routed long
the seizure of the state and banks. The development of a militant and intransigent
movement against the auctions, has succeeded in many cases blocked in practice their
conduct inside and outside the courtroom. ---- Today, the weakness of the state and the
capitalist system to derive consensus in the planning, leading to the method of electronic
auctions through law-related web platform. The insidious machinations of the bosses,
bankers and their political expression will fall on deaf ears. No eviction attempt will
not be tolerated. To safeguard our neighborhoods, to implement in practice social
solidarity and class self-organization.

The only alternative way is solidarity and social and class struggles. The same workers,
the unemployed, the youth to take life in our hands, to organize and to fight
collectively, self-organized and adiamesolavita in any society and the workplace, in
schools and colleges, workplaces, neighborhoods and roads. For the total break with the
world that generates poverty, misery, death. For a society of equality, solidarity and
freedom, where the housing is obviously good for everyone and not a commodity

In its February 2009 issue, Alternative libertarian reported on the dangers of pesticides.
Eight years later, very little has changed in this area. We would like to remind you of
the urgency of a total ban on pesticides and call for joining associations that are
fighting against the release of tens of thousands of tons of various poisons into the
environment. ---- The conditions for the application of pesticides, known as
"phytosanitary" products, are currently defined by a ministerial decree of September 2006.
However, the Conseil d'Etat, following a challenge by the "national association apples
pears", broke this decree For reasons of form. A new by-law must restore the conditions of
spreading: wind strength, minimum distances to a dwelling and watercourse, minimum time to
be respected before agricultural workers - the most exposed To the effects of pesticides -
can re-enter a treated parcel.

But the FNSEA, associated with the preparation of this decree, does not wish to yield
anything to the security measures. "The union believes that these new provisions imposing
untreated areas 5 to 20 meters wide between crops and homes will deprive farmers of"
enormous potential "for production. The FNSEA wants to reduce the minimum delays of return
in a plot treated with carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic products (...). These days,
the organization has also dispatched its parliamentary supporters: the deputy of
Hautes-Alpes Joël Giraud (radical left) pleads against the decree in the name of mountain
agriculture, already constrained by geography. In the Senate, Yvon Collin (RDSE,
Tarn-et-Garonne) has challenged the Minister for Ecology, Segolene Royal, during questions
to the government[1]. "

Faced with this offensive by the agro-industry lobby, on 17 October, environmental groups,
kept out of the discussions, nevertheless invited themselves to the debate. Water and
Rivers of Brittany, France nature environment, Future Generations and Support to Pesticide
Victims call for the maintenance of the minimum protection provisions against spraying: an
untreated zone with a width of 1 meter with respect to all elements of the pesticides
Hydrographic network; Untreated areas near water points, dwellings, gardens and community
facilities; A limit of the intensity of a wind during spreading. Yet, it seems that the
government has once again lain down in front of the FNSEA: while the recently published
statistics on volumes of pesticides for the year 2014 show a 16% increase in the spread of
these "phytosanitary" France, the possibility of creating an untreated area of 5 meters
wide around homes ... has simply disappeared from the draft decree[2].

The enormous damage of endocrine disrupters

Endocrine disruptors (PE) are a class of molecules that produce deleterious effects at low
levels of exposure, interfering with the hormonal system. They are found in many
pesticides - especially organophosphates such as Malathion or Roundup - or are present in
solvents and plastics in some cosmetics or food packaging. According to the study Diabetes
and Endocrinology conducted by US researchers[3], exposure to lead PE 340 billion dollars
a year of health damage in the United States, and again it is a sub- Estimate, since the
study considered only those diseases and disorders for which there is solid evidence of
the link: obesity and diabetes, reproductive disorders and infertility, and especially
neurological and neurobehavioral effects that account for By reducing the intellectual
capacity, calculated in points of intelligence quotient (IQ), of children exposed in
utero. Within the European Union, the same damage is estimated at 157 billion[4], a level
two times smaller, but still huge, and that is due to regulatory differences.

Pesticides and Nutrition

A dozen scientists and doctors, hospital practitioners or researchers attached to the
National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) or the CNRS, have recently been
denied funding for their work by the ministries Agriculture, Health and Environment. They
sent a letter to them on 10 October 2016 requesting clarification. Their project responded
to a concern of the doctors of the oncology-hematology department of the hospital center
of Avignon (Vaucluse). "There are 280 to 300 new cases of different types of blood cancer
per year and this number is increasing in recent years," said one of the petitioners. The
population base has not increased enough to explain this trend[5]. " The goal of the
researchers was to reconstruct the career and places frequented by patients, to suggest or
rule out a link with certain uses of pesticides. "In the absence of any precise scientific
justification for the reasons for this refusal, they write in their letter, it appears to
us a decision of a political nature which unfortunately contributes to the maintenance of
the invisibility of diseases linked to Occupational and environmental exposure to
pesticides. "

In addition to this damage to human health, another observation is necessary. The World
Wildlife Fund (WWF) published in October, in its biennial study in partnership with the
learned society Zoological Society of London, that vertebrate species had lost 58% of
their numbers over the past forty years, with also extinctions Of species. Freshwater
environments are the most affected, with a collapse of 81%, in front of terrestrial
species, 38%, and marine ones, 36%. These figures symbolize the sixth extinction of the
species in progress: a disappearance of forms of life on the planet whose motor is
undeniably linked to the expansion of capitalism. The root causes of these declines are
due to habitat loss and degradation as a result of industrial agriculture, logging,
urbanization or mining; The overexploitation of seas by industrial fisheries; Massive
pollution by pesticides; And, more marginally for the time being, climate change.

Alternative Libertaire Nantes invites you to an exhibition of about twenty panels, loaned
by the Spanish CGT, and a debate on the 80th anniversary of the Spanish Revolution, on
Saturday, January 14th, in the Manufacture Hall, from 2pm . The debate will take place at
4 pm with Frank Mintz, historian and union activist. ---- July 1936, 80 years ago, a
military coup d'etat aims to overthrow the popularly elected government elected in
January. The social climate is tense and the government claims to have the situation in
hand, despite the warnings of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo, powerful
anarcho-syndicalist organization. ---- In a few hours the putschists captured half of
Spain. But in the other, in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, etc., the majority are armed
anarcho syndicalists, followed by socialist workers and workers, left-wing activists and
sometimes groups Police who succeed in defeating the factious military.

Hundreds of thousands of working-class women and men in the cities and the countryside,
beyond their political labels, take control of society and form militias. A new life seems
to begin.

The FB event is here

This interview was conducted in August 2016 by a voluntary international battalion of YPG,
always present in Rojava, published in September of the same year on the website of the
organization Plan C . The translation, the precisions between crochet ([...]) and the note
at the end of the article are by Julien Clamence. ---- An increasing number of
international volunteers join the Syrian People's Protection Units (YPGs) in their fight
against Daesh. Hundreds of them joined the Kurdish struggle despite the legal vagueness in
their countries of origin[on their possibilities of returning after fighting abroad].
Today, as the Rojava revolution is better established (it celebrated its fourth
anniversary in July) and the momentum of international solidarity continues to grow, the
process of recruiting international volunteers has been streamlined and centralized in Is
simply referred to as YPG International (YPG-I). Sitting quietly, in the new international
training center on a foam mattress with a glass of chai and cigarettes, and while a dozen
newcomers to Europe and America studying in the classroom just Commander Cihan Kendal
explains his mission to me.

"This is an official YPG project open to women and men. It tries to give a new and more
responsible political direction to our work with international volunteers, based on our
political ideology: democracy, ecology, liberation of women, and of course anti-capitalism. "

I wonder how immediately it happened with the most famous English volunteers[Macer Gifford
1], who ran for election as a Conservative candidate with the reputation he had gained in
the media.

"By setting up the YPG-I, we took a look at what has happened over the last eighteen
months. We saw that, for various reasons, some people who joined us were not the right
people. Fascists, people like that, came just to kill and others only to become famous -
they used their profile in YPGs to serve personal interests. These people are not welcome,
we do not need this type of people in our struggle. "

And what happens with those who fit politically but do not want to fight?

"Everyone who comes to Syria via the YPG-I serves militarily for six months, and they can
also discuss the work of civil society with the Tev Dem[Democratic Movement], the
federation of people's assemblies. The YPGs are a military force, but we can not tell Tev
Dem what to do, in fact, they are the ones telling us what to do. "

The Rojava Revolution began in 2012; At the same time, in Europe, we witnessed the rise of
anti-austerity movements like Podemos or Syriza and the election of Jeremy Corbyn at the
head of Labor. Do you see similarities with these movements?

"Of course, as we ourselves are a branch of the anti-capitalist struggle, we will always
be happy to see that people in different parts of the world are criticizing the capitalist
system and trying to find an alternative, to organize themselves Themselves against modern
exploitation. We seek to establish better links with these movements, and, hopefully, we
will see them develop more and more with the creation of the YPG-I.

But while we are talking about consolidating a revolution, it becomes clear that the
classical politics of parties that simply work in parliaments does not work. They can
certainly be a part of the movement and even a significant part of the movement; When you
try to build an alternative system, you can try to work in the existing system, but that
is not enough; The most important is when people organize themselves to lead the society
themselves, go beyond the state. Abdullah Ocalan has a formula for this - "State more
democracy". "

The State plus Democracy? Is not Rojava against the State?

" Yes and no. Yes, we threw Assad out of Rojava, but we are realistic enough to know that
in the current political, economic and military circumstances we are not able to stop
everything and we have some degree of relationship with the Syrian government[Of Assad],
precisely because we do not want to create another state. We say that if they respect the
democratic rights of the people of this region, who want to organize themselves, then can
also be a part of the Syrian state, that part of the Syrian state that will change all
other parts . In fact, it is our goal to move from an autonomous region to a democratic Syria.

When we speak of the revolution, it does not happen as we can imagine that the revolutions
passed a hundred or thirty years ago. The revolution has its violent moments, when we have
to put down the state, then defend ourselves with weapons, but, at the same time, it
sounds more like an evolution; The revolution accelerates this period of evolution; It is
neither the anarchist idea of abolishing the whole of the State at once, nor the communist
idea of taking control of the whole of the State immediately. Over time we will organize
alternatives for each part of the state controlled by the people, and when they function,
these parts of the state will dissolve. "

Why do media coverage of international volunteers not reflect these policies?

"The media choose not to show volunteers with political views; Many have a radical left
classic, anarchist, Marxist, all types of non-dogmatic communism. So often, the media
chose not to show the political views of the volunteers. Jordan Matheson for example -
they have not shown his true political ideas. When it began to criticize the American
state, the American media, and their relations with Turkey allied with NATO and sending
its armies to the Turkish Kurdistan, they cut it off, and people think that 'He is just a
Christian come to destroy Daesh. The others who are in the media do not represent these
policies because they do not embody them; And this is one of the bases of the YPG - we say
that if you have important democratic and human values, we can fight together against the
enemy. As a result, there are radical leftists, but also ecologists, feminists, liberals,
even some types of pacifists, and these people look at the Rojava revolution in their own
way, which differs from the basic ideology of the YPGs, But we want that difference - we
do not want to control what people think of us or what they say about us; So the media can
choose who represents us, and they choose those who are the least dangerous to their
agenda. Tamam[Although]. We do not want to control that; We believe in ourselves, in our
ideology, and that's why people will understand us, understand our truth, when they know
us. However, we want to learn more from volunteers than we did before, so from now on,
there is at least a month of teaching of Kurdish language, history and culture, as well as
Classes on politics and ideology, and on the structure of YPG and Rojava. There is also a
special teaching of the women's movement, their ideology and their organizations. "

But you surely want to extinguish some rumors to be able to advance and answer some
criticisms? Is Rojava "a dictatorship of the PKK"?

"Someone who truly wants to understand what is happening in Rojava can do so by taking
cognizance of what his institutions are saying, and by avoiding being caught in all the
storms[media]that fall on them, Because there are of course many people who want to
discredit us. Rojava is of course not a PKK dictatorship - it is something that anyone can
understand very quickly when they come to Rojava - there are so many contradictions within
the revolution that it is clearly not A dictatorship of any kind. There is no connection
with the PKK; Ocalan is our philosopher and our ideological leader, but there is no PKK
here, no office or forces. There's the PKK and we're the YPGs. And then there are extreme
left-wing claims that have as negative an effect as rumors and criticisms, such as saying
we do not have police forces - of course we have them, how can we defend ourselves
Security and order in a society without police forces? But while there is our first police
force, the Asayish, there is also the HPC, the Defense Force of the Society - it is
civilians, your mother, my sister, who are trained to resolve conflicts for problems that
erupt in their community, quarrels between families or clans, domestic problems, but they
do not work in the style Law & Order , with sentences and all these things. They try to
solve problems, not create new ones by punishing people and sending them to jail. There
are prisons, of course, for crimes against society. And people should know that if they
had sought, it is no secret - but there is a small degree of fantasy from the moment when
people are confronted with our language and our ideology. "

Last month[July 2016]American soldiers were filmed bearing the insignia of the YPG. This
has angered Turkey but also many radicals in the world, who consider that the United
States is responsible for the destruction of Afghanistan, Libya and Iraq, which some
identify as what led to the Creation of Daesh. What is your relationship with the United
States?

"If you look at the official statements of our various institutions, the main party, the
PYD, the Tev-Dem, the women's movement, then you will see that everyone in Rojava fully
understands what American interests are in Syria. We all know what the US wants and what
they do not want, and their responsibility in the existence of groups like Daesh and Al
Nostra. They have done more than destroy Iraq and everything else, they have a direct role
in their creation, then they have lost control, and now they have to fix the problem they
created. So obviously they want our help. Our relationship with them is, once again, open
and official, it is no secret - it is tactical, not strategic. They want to use us and we
try to get the most out of this situation. We are obliged, we have many enemies and we
have to defend ourselves. It is a practical and political necessity to find our place in
the balance of power of the "big players" that surrounds us, because all the world has
interests in Syria, so we try to defend the interests of the people. And it's not possible
when you say "No, no, no!" "And start fighting all your enemies at the same time.

Their main regional allies are of course Turkey, the peshmergas of Barzani[President of
Iraqi Kurdistan]and part of the ASL[Free Syrian Army]that they train with the British Army
in Lebanon. Turkey is attacking the Kurds here in Bakur and is clearly helping Daesh, and
the Peshmerga are badly trained and motivated, while the YPGs have proved to be the most
effective forces against Daesh on the field, the United States Must be seen helping us. In
fact, we are forcing them, in order to build a strong strategic position, to cooperate
with us. They give us the opportunity to make our revolution more powerful and it is
something we need. The revolution is not something you can simply defend by talking about
it, you have to give something to people, you have to protect them, you have to feed them,
you have to give them infrastructure, and if you completely isolate yourself Of all the
others, you can not do that.

The United States would like to see us as a major ally, but they know that this is not
possible; Militarily we cooperate for the moment, but ideologically we are enemies. The
United States is the vanguard of the capitalist system, and we are the vanguard of the
alternative. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day in the future this situation
will eventually reach a critical phase. "

The initiative of the Rojava Lions[the former YPG International Brigade], now shut down,
presented a very masculine image of international volunteers; Would you like to see more
women?

"Yes, now the fact is that there are not many women volunteers, but that's something we
would like to change. At the moment we are working on specific structures for women
volunteers, and we believe that in the future, their numbers will increase. I believe in
it personally, and say that in a month, or a year, the number of women coming to Rojava
will be greater than that of men. The main strength of this revolution is the women's
movement and its ideology; So more women are destined to come, see Him, and take part in
their own emancipation.

The same is true for our cooperative and ecological economy, which is still in its
infancy; The necessary structures require people to organize and turn them, while we are
fighting in a very heavy war, and sometimes we have enough people for all the things we
would like to achieve. But there is a way to help us: come to Rojava yourself and help us
build these structures. You can criticize the Rojava revolution, and we will listen to
you, but if you want to make constructive criticism, come here, and show us the value of
your criticism in practical circumstances - we are waiting for you. "

Classes were interrupted for dinner, and as we wandered into the kitchens a huge
ex-Croatian soldier patiently discusses group meals with a group of Germans while
practicing the Kurdish they have just studied. An Irish volunteer announces that a truck
has just arrived with the first fresh vegetables of the week, and enthusiastic volunteers
form a chain to the storage room. Very soon, another truck will arrive to take them into
their battalions, and from there, to the front line and the war. And then, another truck
will bring again volunteers ...

1    Macer Gifford is a controversial figure: he went to fight with the YPG in 2014 after
giving up a trader station and openly campaigned for the Tories (Conservatives) British.
Currently, it is launching a foundation, Friends of Rojava , with uncertain functions.
Ideologically, he seems to defend the principle of a "democratic alliance" from
conservatives to "leftists" against Daesh and regularly advocates the PYD, despite the
various obvious policies. His links with the YPGs are also difficult to establish, despite
the very critical position of the commander interviewed above, he seems to remain (a
deliberate? By force of circumstance?) A privileged interlocutor of the Kurds and the
Western media on the issue of fighters foreigners (especially in the case of Nazzareno
Tassone , a young Canadian, died fighting Daesh on 31 December).
