Dear friends,

President-elect Trump campaigned on fear and hate. Now he’s picking top officials like General John Kelly to lead in his Administration. As Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, Kelly could use prejudice and scare tactics to divide this country even more – and attack human rights.

But before his cabinet is installed, Trump’s picks must face the Senate and get its approval. That’s where you come in: Demand your senators scrutinize nominees’ views on human rights.

This Is Urgent. Tell Your Senator: Protect My Human Rights Under Trump

Freedom of religious belief is a human right, and one of the most precious ideals of this country.

That’s one reason it was so appalling that Trump made villains out of ordinary people who happen to be Muslim – including refugees seeking safe haven from the atrocities of war.

As head of the Department of Homeland Security, Kelly would have the power to enact — or reject — Trump’s most dangerous proposals, including forcing all Muslims to register or banning refugees who happen to be Muslim.

We all want security, but fear and bigotry don’t make us safer.

Take Action: No Muslim Ban, No Religious Tests – Not Now, Not Ever

Your action this week is urgent. Kelly and other nominees will face questions from the Senate. This is our chance to hold Kelly accountable and secure his commitment to protect human rights.

The voices of hate and fear are speaking loudly. But we can speak even louder.

It’s time your voice was heard. Take action.

Thank you,
