Your gift matched: Donate now Dear friends, Right now Syrians are being murdered just because they are trying to escape. Over the last 48 hours, Aleppo is in turmoil. The situation in Syria is turbulent and more fragile than ever, with people posting their fears publically on Facebook and Twitter. Tens of thousands of innocent people are still trapped, with the hopes of a safe evacuation just out of reach. Men, women and children who attempt to flee are being bombed and murdered in the street. Amnesty needs your help to expose the truth and demand that international governments take action to save lives. We are demanding that UN monitors be deployed. Without proper monitoring, people leaving eastern Aleppo will be at risk of arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance or extrajudicial execution. Your donation will support our efforts. For a short time, it will go twice as far as part of our year-end match campaign. A teacher described Aleppo, Syria this week, saying, "Bombs are everywhere. People are running, people are injured in the streets, no-one can dare go to help them, some people are under the rubble." Amnesty has been working in and on Syria since the civil war first erupted and we will continue our efforts advocating on behalf of families still there and those that have fled seeking safer havens abroad.
