Assad's dictatorial regime is committing terrible war crimes in Syria, with the support of
Putin's rule. A deliberate genocide with mass executions of innocent civilians, a
political cleansing is being made, all these completely ignored by world powers (including
the State of Israel). It's clear and obvious why no world power is objecting to those
crimes , as they have no economic interest to act otherwise. No one can make money by
preventing a Holocaust, and Assad's regime doesn't threat any international great power.
---- Anyone who supports the Russian or any other intervention in favour of Assad's
government is an idealogical partner to one of the hideous modern genocides ever seen. One
cannot be a leftist while supporting Assad's horrible regime. And by this we point at the
Israeli "Communist" Party (Maki). We must take a clear position against all war criminals,
against all genocides. This shall not pass, we will remember and not forget.

No to the Genocide in Aleppo.

No to Assad's regime

Putin's regime must cease immediately its support and military aid to the mass-killer
Assad, who's committing a genocide against his citizens. Russia must take out its forces
and weapons from Syria and stop casting vetoes at the UN Security Council - Only by taking
away the arms from Syria and by ceasing financial and military support to Assad's regime
there will be a chance to halt the genocide.
Enough with the great powers' imperialism, enough with the nationalism and the politics
made at the expense of the Syrian people.

International Solidarity, from Israel/Palestine to Aleppo.

We will stand together on the next Sunday from 5:00pm, at the Russian embassy in Tel Aviv
(120 HaYarqon St.) - Showing solidarity with all the masses being murdered in Aleppo.

The Workers Solidarity Movement had our Autumn national conference in Dublin on the 22nd
October. What follows is a brief report on the days proceedings. ---- What is WSM National
Conference? ---- National Conference is the ultimate decision-making body for WSM members.
It happens every six months and takes place over a day or two. We discuss motions on
collective policy, reflect on the past six months of activity and map prospects for the
next period. ---- Conference normally begins with reports of activity from all branches,
officers and working groups.  This might cover areas like current campaigns, publications,
education, engagement and administration as well as organising Dublin Anarchist Bookfair.
We then move on to an open discussion of our perspectives before discussing amendments to
our position papers.

We interrupted National Conference this year in order to take part in a demonstration
outside the Central Bank in support of a 17 year old water charges demonstrator from Jobstown.

This is direct democracy in action. If this appeals to you, you might consider finding out
more about the WSM and what we anarchists are up to. (Not on our contact system? Self
register here)

Reports

The outgoing National Secretary reported a rise in the number of people engaging with the
WSM across all our social media rising to 75695 in 2016. This includes Facebook (WSM Page
65800; Solidarity Times 8800), Twitter (6571), Youtube (652) and Mixcloud (832). There
followed a discussion on ensuring we engage with new contacts directly and in a timely manner.

The Treasurer reported that the organisation is in a sound financial position. He
acknowledged donations from members and supporters as well as people who donated money for
specific events this year, including the DABF 2016 and the Pro-Choice Buses to Belfast.

National Conference recognised the great work that was done by the bookfair organising
committee in organising a well attended bookfair which notably saw important discussion of
the Revolution in Rojava and of ongoing movement campaigns in Ireland.

Perspectives Discussion

Our perspectives discussion covered a wide range of struggles, hopes and fears. We
discussed the looming ecological crisis. We praised the efforts of grassroots solidarity
networks in the context of the EU's inhumane response to people fleeing conflict and
hardship in Africa and in the Middle East. We spat upon the rise of the far-right, racist
and fascist groups in Europe and in the USA and discussed the dangers this poses for all
our struggles. We discussed how their rise was bound up with a popular distrust of elites
and a distrust of experts. This attitude can be manipulated into targetting scape-goats
such as migrants or ethnic minorities.

Popular movements in Ireland have shifted society somewhat left-ward - in large part due
to the mass mobilising brought about in opposition to water charges, and in part due to
anti-fascist organising - but this cannot be taken for granted. The crisis in Ireland is
particularly severe on the majority of people, both in material terms and job prospects as
well as in terms of their mental health and well-being. We discussed struggles for choice,
for housing, anti-racism struggles and the prospects for trade union resistance, notably
in the public sector.

A number of members mentioned how their experiences of organising - particularly on small
collective projects such as organising the Pro-choice Bus to Belfast or organising a
housing action - gave them hope. We also acknowledged that the revolution in Rojava
provided inspiration on a much larger scale. In the struggle between socialism or
barbarism, we can organise and we can win.

Motions

National Conference then moved on to take the motions members had submitted

WSM policy is based on the WSM position papers which can all be accessed on the WSM
website at http://www.wsm.ie/content/position-papers-wsm. If a member thinks WSM policy
should change in a specific area they should propose a motion as an amendment or an
addition to an existing position paper, this means that the decision can be stored for
future reference and won't be forgotten about.

Motions concerning the following position papers were passed:

1. Towards Womens Freedom

2. Perspectives for struggle & revolution

3. Anarchism,oppression&exploitation

4. Class & Exploitation

Elections and Close

Conference then moved on to elections for all national positions and national committees.
No one can hold any of these positions for more than 3 years but in practise positions
tend to be rotated more frequently than this. At this conference most of the people
holding these positions were changed.

Conference closed with a closing circle where members said how they had found the
conference. This was overwhelmingly positive. We look forward to a new year of collective
resistance and organising for freedom together.

In the aftermath of recent clashes in Athens, Greece, on the anniversary of the police
murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos on December 8th 2008, fascist party Golden Dawn has
attempted to get itself back into the news through attacking journalists. But in Patras at
least they aren't having it all their own way. ---- On December 10th MPs and hangers-on of
Golden Dawn rushed the third floor of the headquarters of the Athens Journalists' Union,
ESIEA, while peopleinside were marking Human Rights Day. The journalists were talking
about migrant rights when MPs Yiannis Lagos, Ilias Panagiotaros and Constantinos
Barbarousis, plus a group of allied thugs, pushed their way into the building and tried to
shut down the meeting. Police had been forewarned about the possibility of an attack but
didn't show up.

In Patras however, Golden Dawn are being forced to keep their activities quiet. Also on
the 10th, the Nazis tried to organise a secret gathering at their offices, having
previously been shut down by a major anti-fascist mobilisation in the city. However antifa
organisers got wind of the meetup and closed off the street, pushing up against police
lines and eventually forcing Golden Dawn's loyalists to leave under the protection of
police escorts.

Organisers with the Anarchist Political Organisation said: "As a spontaneously organised
group of anarchists, we knew it was imperative to immediately halt the Nazi rabble
wherever they appear as they are a key part of reinforcing the the modern fascist para-State.

"Paramilitaries have attacked housing refugee squats  and other self-managed and occupied
spaces of struggle while the State concentrates on putting people in detention centres and
concentration camps. The humiliation and the physical barrier of the borders of fortress
Europe is the most obvious show of brutality by a regime that creates war and misery,
which uses fascist gangs to attack immigrants, refugees and those who are fighting, but
also to intimidate those who have every reason to resist.

Against this regime, the bottom have only one road to cross, that of self-organisation of
resistance and solidarity. Social self-defense and of creating a class of mutual
structures. Promote the ongoing struggle for global "social revolution, anarchy and
libertarian communism."

Senior figures in Syriza meanwhile are talking about legitimising the fascist
organisation. Speaking on Sunday, former justice minister and Syriza MP Nikos
Paraskevopoulo said: "We have to decide what we prefer: To include Golden Dawn in the
democratic processes or remain in a permanent rift with them. In my opinion, we should
choose convergence."

Grigoropoulos: A thorn the police can't dislodge

The confrontations follow on from fierce rioting that took place in Athens on December
6th, following a rememberance for Alexis Grigoropoulos, who was shot dead aged 15 by two
armed officers. This murder in the heart of the anarchist enclave of Exarchia, sparked a
string of riots all over Greece. Below is footage of the huge protest and fighting that
took place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRjF_jGsNT8

On August 10, 2012, in Paros, Dimitris Michas falls dead by bullets during a bank robbery.
A few days later arrested anarchist Tasos Theophilus as prime suspect for the robbery and
murder. Additionally charged for participation in the organization "Conspiracy of Cells of
Fire". Along with the arrest, he began another form TV and Inernet tromosoou us profusely
offer increasingly parrots counterterrorism, known as "policemen authors" and self-styled
'media'. Tasos Theophilus detained under the weight of the experiences of media
constructed "social" outcry and supposedly irrefutable evidence for his guilt. ---- The
irrefutable guilt details for Paros case was an anonymous phone call to the
Counter-Terrorism (how much similarity with the recent case of Th. Sipsas that acquitted
for Marfin) stating that the offender is a Tasos from Thessaloniki which runs between
Plaka and Exarchia and for participation in CCF acquaintance with the accused to
participate in the organization, Kostas Sakkas.

Thus, counter-terrorism, prosecutors and investigators-always a good cooperation between
them; send fighters to prison. At the trial on ..., held in the midst of many procedural
violations (known in this type of proceedings from the first trial of the 17N) categories
collapse. Even the chief was forced to admit that "might not be the Theophilus in the
robbery" research counterterrorism E. Chardalias (professional anti-anarchist T..
Theophilos called him). Finally Tasos Theophilus acquitted of the more and more serious
charges (such as murder). However, without any evidence -not to completely xeftilistei the
antitromokratiki- sentenced to predatory penalty of 38 years in prison for involvement in
the robbery of Paros.

In fact, the only crime of T. Theophilus is that it is an anarchist communist militant and
consistent even in the cells. This policy of engagement and therefore pay the last four
years living a real Kafkaesque nightmare.

Procedural violations, authoritarianism criminal - judiciary, multiple suppression,
handling criminal cases under the anti-anarchist and antikinimatiko political planning of
counter-terrorism, and the deteriorating conditions of detention in "prison" hell is not
digressions from bourgeois framework that can be corrected with a change in government
management. Instead, they provide the framework within which the prison, the police and
the judiciary are consolidated and generate the powerful repressive arm of modern
totalitarianism. We are not dealing with the violation of terms of some imaginary social
contract but by creating a new equilibrium at all levels (legislative, police and
criminal) that captures the existing correlation of forces between rulers and subordinate,
capital and labor .

For this reason, it is vital for the movement and the interests of off-the-less the
organic combination of the movement of solidarity to political prisoners in the other
parts of the movement, so as to strengthen the revolutionary current in society and to
create the conditions for the overthrow of the existing operating system and power that
will put the tombstone state and repression. A prerequisite, however, is to practice and
not postponing the revolution indefinitely is to cancel any conspiracy, any thought
criminalization of political and social relations, each state and parastatal design
directed against the movement and its people. Why can not we go down there we want if we
stop believing in Man if you lose the passion for Freedom.

More than a month after the Ostrava demonstration for decent housing is very similar event
was held on Tuesday, December 6th in Brno. Demonstration "We want to live" convened
eponymous initiative to "highlight the practices of Dolfin RE appeal to the municipal
government with the necessity of a clear solution to this critical situation, and
especially to help families that are due to these speculators found themselves in extreme
insecurity and poverty and are at risk that from one day to find themselves on the street.
"the initiative requires that people in need get the standard lease agreement with it and
move out of insecurity. The machinations of developers in Brno is currently threatened by
housing approximately five hundred people, especially the underprivileged. Brno Fidurock
development company, which bought the property from RE Dolfin, he had unexpectedly refused
to renew the lease contract for next year.

Already announcing caused Fidurocku executive promised that in the next six months does
not intend to evict anyone. Such promises, however, are not to be trusted, so a
demonstration that had no effect, and the freezing dusk in front of hostel Chilling on the
damp street gathered nearly two hundred people, a mixture of social activists and local
residents at risk of losing their housing.

During the opening speeches spoke resident of one of the houses, which now owns Fidurock
Brno. She and her neighbors have experience with the practices of owners: the conclusion
of short-term contracts, cases of illegal eviction, virtually no private investment in
repairs. Another spokesman concluded his speech with the words: "You can not live in a
society full of empty houses without people and people without a home! Houses for people,
"spoke among others. Chairman of the Housing Committee of Brno-center Green Party.

Subsequently, under the banner "We want to live. Solidary Network "and chanting slogans
like" Apartments are the people! "Gave the procession to the company's headquarters
Dolfin. On display were banners and signs "Housing is a right," "City for people, not for
profit," "No to tax havens, dolphin swim to hell," "Nothing but flat!" Or "Brno for all."
The event was concluded with Janácek Theatre thematic performances presented by Theatre Feste.

September 14, Gregory was Chambat bookstore Modern Times Orleans to present his latest
book, The School of reac-publicans, at the invitation of blog Classebuissonniere.org . The
opportunity to return with him to the reactionary offensive against the school. ----
Alternative Libertaire : First, can you go back to what led you to write this book? ----
Grégory Chambat : I teach newcomers from non-francophone students and newcomers in a
college of Mantes-la-Ville, became the first town hall of FN Île-de-France in 2014 ... So
much for "news" who presided over the work, conceived as an activist tool to decrypt and
combat curriculum extreme right. But, from 2008, in the columns of N'Autre school [1], I
had used the term "reactionary-collectors" to describe these ideologues (Finkielkraut to
Zemmour, through Polony ...) which, in the name a certain idea of the Republic, made the
school a privileged field of intervention of their ideological offensive (return of
authority, identity and moral, "healthy choice", etc. ).

If the FPI militants and those "reactionary-collectors" are not the same - it must be
remembered - they share the same vocabulary and the same rhetoric about the decadence
"pedagogist" teaching that only the restoration of a school order - and social - former
can stop worrying ... It is this continuity that I wanted to ask.

This school of reactionary-publicans finally just far enough, can you tell us something
about his ancestry?

The reac-publicans of the project is to restore a segregated education system:
"Conservative angry, reactionary wants to maintain the" natural "order of things and gives
the authoritarian ways of doing .[It is]certainly a reformer, but a reformer that reforms
backwards: stepping back in history and backward in social, justice and equality. " [2]

Remember that the literacy of the population responded to an imperative order to the
ruling class: "It is ignorance that makes the turbulent and ferocious people," warns
Guizot precursor of Jules Ferry. And for the latter, the school is a bulwark for the
conservative Republic, threatened as much by the Church by the labor movement ...

However, the school system is not reduced in this project. It was crossed by the social
struggles that have, in turn, shaped. This is why the target of reactionary, it is not so
much the school of the Republic that those who strive to transform it. The antisemite
Edouard Drumont campaigning against the libertarian pedagogue Paul Robin and coeducation
and gets his dismissal for "subversive activities".

After the First World War, the French Action protests against the "only school" that
challenges the school organization in two separate orders imagined by Jules Ferry: a
school for the people (the primary) and another school, high school, public but limited,
access to which is the privilege of the children of the ruling classes, and "preserved" in
any proximity to the populace. Charles Maurras and his followers grow Freinet to resign ...

As for the Vichy regime, he places the school in the heart of its concerns: Focusing not
of Teachers, ban unions, return crucifixes and parity in funding between the public and
private sectors, etc.

After May 68, for the New Right, time is the reconquest of cultural hegemony. The school
is one of the pillars of this offensive against "egalitarianism", "democratism", "the
pedagogism" etc.

Today, the collective Racine "patriots teachers" of the FN took over. This is the first
collective launched by Florian Philippot. And in September 2016, Marine Le Pen chooses the
theme of the school to his first "presidential convention".

What are today the major themes that vertèbrent the reac-publican speech about school?

Grégory Chambat : There are three schools of thought. Traditionalists and libertarians of
the education market, which aims to establish an extensive network of contract outside
schools to compete with the public service (Foundation for school, Hope Suburbs). Hi to
the flag, uniforms, etc., serve as marketing arguments (and it works with the media!). The
ideologues of identity, then, for whom school is an instrument of the "great alternative".
They celebrate the national novel and abhor "repentance" colonial, anti-racism, priority
education. And, finally, national Republicans (Philippot, Chevènement, Dupont-Aignan)
their ambition is to re authoritatively school, up and down, to straighten the body, minds
and ultimately France ...

Sometimes competing, often allied, they find themselves in any case in a common hatred of
"the May 68 school", that of "pedagogists" and sociologists. Save "the school of the
Republic" is to save civilization by eradicating its defects: equality ( "egalitarianism")
and democracy (the "totalitarian democratism"). Their program is structured around the
restoration of the old school (dictation, ba-ba, national novel, etc.) to the perpetuation
of the established order.

How do you think we can resist this reactionary wave today?

Grégory Chambat: Go to the roots of declinists speech on the school serves to underline
the continuity and coherence between the education project and claimed the social project
that inspires ... This is the goal of inter-union training courses such as Saint-Denis in
May or Mantes 30 and 31 January: do not neglect the educational challenge and registered
in our struggle against fascism and in our social and union struggles.

Above all, we must not let the reac-publicans monopoly on challenging the school as it is
now, that is to say, too authoritarian, unequal and traditionalist. The success of their
speech is also due to the depoliticization of educational movement. We need to rediscover
the path of critical and social pedagogy, not serving the "managers" of the system, but
the emancipation of dominé.es: Education does not transform the world, it can however
arming those and those who transform it.
