Rev 5:1-10;
Ps 149:1-6, 9;
Lk 19:41-44
DO WE GLORY IN THE OLD JERUSALEM, OR THE NEW JERUSALEM?
The city of Jerusalem, with its Temple, was the primary symbol of Judaism, and every Jew identified himself with it. Jesus wished to convey to his followers, that it was not the earthly city of Jerusalem that the prophets were referring to, but to the New Jerusalem, the spiritual city of God’s reign. The first reading taken from the book of Revelation speaks of this New Jerusalem. The Lamb, by the shedding of his blood, has ransomed for God saints from every nation, and now they shall reign in God’s Kingdom, the New Jerusalem. Which Jerusalem do you wish to belong to?
Prayer: Lord, help me not to lose sight of the New Jerusalem that You have prepared for me. Amen.
