BEING PREPARED WITH LOVE!

As we come towards the end of the liturgical year, the readings tend insistently to turn the gaze of our mind towards the eschatological end of the world. To each one of us, it is understandably our own personal death that is the eschatological end. Is there anyone who isn’t a little afraid of the prospect of judgment when every part of our hearts and all of our actions will be revealed? Of course we are a bit apprehensive if we’re normal. The Lord does tell us to be prepared. All we have is today. Yesterday is beyond our control and tomorrow doesn’t exist yet. But today is right here before me. I have the ability of this day. I can choose to love or hate. I can help or hurt. I can believe or doubt. I can hope or despair. I can live for others or I can live just for myself. The whole day is filled with so many opportunities to love and choose God. If we truly love our God and neighbor we need not fear death and judgment.

Prayer: Lord help me to get busy loving You and my neighbor. Amen.
