On 22-23 October. It held its annual meeting Black and Red Coordination (Red-Black
Coordination - RBC). It is a network uniting alternative, non-hierarchical,
anarcho-syndicalist unions, which OZZ IP since 2010. Below we publish the report from the

union operating in the US and the UK) as an observer. This year's meeting took place in
the social center of Athens in Greece.
Representatives and representatives of member organizations RBC decided to prepare for May
1 2017r. common information materials on. migration; It was also decided on the joint
expression of opposition to international agreements on free trade: TTIP (EU-US), CETA
(Canada-EU) and EPA (EU-Africa).
In the coming years, a key initiative of the Coordination be international industry
conferences. They will relate to these sectors in which they operate most actively
structure of the member organizations of RBC, which is currently pending important
conflicts or those that are of strategic importance in the country. The selection will be
done by the industry organization that organizes a meeting. Industry conferences will
serve to exchange information about the strategies of action, as well as coordination of
the international fight in the sector. The nearest conference trade sector will organize
ESE on 7-8-9 April 2017. In Athens. The conference may also be invited national
organizations belonging to the Co-ordination and co-operating with the compound organizing

in Poland in September 2017.
During the meeting also discussed matters relating to the functioning of co-ordination,
including the issue of joint promotional materials and running a website and the rules of
communication in the course of the year, between annual meetings. Coordination Secretariat
in the coming year will lead the Greek ESE, and the next meeting of Coordination will be
held in September 2017. In Warsaw.
After the meeting Coordination issued a press statement which we publish below.
The Communication adopted by the meeting of Red - Black Coordination, 10.23.2016, Athens
Organize to dream TO PLACE AND RESISTANCE
Organise yourself! Because everyone, and we all have the same problems (worsening working
conditions, inequalities, racism, etc.) And the same enemy: global capitalism. Since the
90s we observe liberal offensive which, step by step, in all our countries is trying to
crush the resistance of employees and workers. For example, Poland was the laboratory of
destruction, which passed successively by Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece ... and
more recently by France where he was offered the same labor law reform, the same bad
recipe: fewer rights for workers and employees, a decline wages, more benefits for heads,
privatization, cuts and austerity. As we were in Greece, we have to remember a few things:
we will not pay for their so-called crisis, and will not allow this to blame for it blames
employees and workers.
Therefore, we are organized in the Red-Black Coordination. We met in October 22-23,
brought to a common by our experiences, learn from each other and strengthen our
resistance against global capitalism.
Self-organization and constant struggle are the key firstly to survive, and then to dream
and build a new world without classes and without states. We already know very well that
capitalism leads to disaster.
There we took and we took out of nowhere. Our legacy of the struggle in the past and
anarcho help us to understand that the reform of the system based on the sufferings of
workers and workers and the divisions between them is not possible.
Nevertheless, we have to defend our victories they have won under this system. We must
organize ourselves / themselves and using his own weapons: the strikes, occupations and
solidarity - with each other and with migrants from various parts of the world who are
also struggling with the lack of freedom and capitalism. They tell us that this is a
utopia, but human beings can not live without dreams and utopias. So let us build together
a better world.

The women of Poland retained their right to abortion already reduced to almost nothing and
almost impossible to practice despite an attempt by the Church to remove it entirely. This
is not really a victory. ---- Polish women took to the streets in October to protect their
already very thin right to abortion against an attempt to ban it completely. Yet this
fundamental right of women has not always been absent from the country. Thus, from 1955 to
1993, abortion was free and open. From 1989 to 1993, fundamentalists cathos parties and
the Church attempted several times to ban do. And it almost succeeded. After blackmail the
Church threatening not to support the ultra-liberal reforms, the parliament passed the ban
in January 1993. After several attempts to overcome improvements right catho, women suffer
permanently since 1996 one of the most restrictive laws in Europe. Abortion is only
permitted in the case of malformation of the fetus of a threat to the life or health of
the woman or rape, including rape by incest, is the origin of the pregnancy.
Between 100,000 and 150,000 clandestine abortions
There are hundreds of legal abortions each year, access remains difficult because of the
Catholic lobbying. Feminist organizations encrypt the number of clandestine abortions
between 100,000 and 150,000, mostly in neighboring countries with more favorable legislation.
In the spring of this year, some bishops took a stand for a total ban, followed by a
movement of citizens and reactionary citizens who proposed a law prohibiting abortion
except in cases of danger to the life of the mother. The project has collected enough
signatures to be presented to Parliament which agreed to get him into the voting process.
The first manifestations of women had begun in May, a day of strikes and demonstrations
was the highlight the "Black Monday" (because women have shown dressed in black) on 3
October. Parliament rejected the bill on 6 and thus cut short the debate, once opened,
will be closed with the liberalization of abortion rights. The most reactionary little
lost, abortion remains inaccessible in Poland, and they are already preparing other
projects such as the prohibition of medical termination of pregnancy in case of fetal
malformation. The First Minister announced the increase of allocations for selecting
families raising children with disabilities or women choosing to complete a dangerous
pregnancy.
Women have gained nothing, the battle remains to be done in a Europe whose leaders have
nothing but contempt for this right is not enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Plundering of the planet has resulted in irreversible damage that will further deepen. It
is necessary to say goodbye to the selfish mentality of capitalism. Download, print and
circulate November issue of wall newspapers A3. ---- In recent hysteria about the US
elections and the latest Games of Thrones Czech politics drowned several simultaneously
imaginary and painfully present obituaries. No worries, no celebrity died nobody shoot

three-fifths of extinct animals, and that is on its last legs and the Great Barrier Reef.
Not something we should worry about that? ---- Milled phrase "throwing peas at the wall,"
sitting here like few. Exactly foolishly and irrationally shouting similar messages to the

wrong. Progressive politicians through repetition of this fact shrabují voices
entrepreneurs with the bio and eco products gains and liberal activists feel good. Even
television cautiously admits that there is probably something wrong.
We know it all and by far it's not just about exotic lands, where just coral islands are
perhaps the most exotic. And also the most vulnerable - first, rising ocean levels and
then the warming that corals, which is bound enormous amount of marine life, quickly
disposed of. Just look at the frantic flow of cars as platelets in Prague or veins from
the vicinity of the capital to try to catch a glimpse of the stars. Try to take a deep

factories monstrous. The landscape is broken by intensive agriculture and no subsidies for
"sustainable development" change junkie junkie mentality civilization continued despite
knowledge of the depth of his trouble in what it can easily kill.
Still nothing new, is it? Still we agree and we can pat my shoulder as we get it all
nicely confessed.
At that but we can not quit. It is necessary to ask why the hell, nothing fundamentally
unchanged despite warnings from scientists, publicized ecological disasters, waste sorting
all the conveniences ekokonzumu, international treaties and a stack of papers
podškrábnutých policy.
If we look at the building of the civilization we have built, we see at the top of the
outline of possible answers. For any further clearing of the forest, the act of extraction
of valuable metals or contamination of another sea costs no fairytale villain, spineless
corporation or simply evil and stupid people, but only a few phantoms hypnotic humanity.
Profit and tied him much. The spectacle of endless consumerism, in which it is possible to

that brought her into our imaginary grandfather started hanging sometime during the
Eneolithic. Why are brave deeds of warriors against the destruction of Earth, attempts to
"green" politicians or perhaps a popular waste sorting similar attempt to extinguish
burning apartment shower.
It is time to use a different logic. Rethink on what other basis can establish our company
- to replace the selfish pursuit of profit solidarity, to become non-violent community
structures, stolen deadening themselves at work or on carousing true freedom, bridge
plunder of the planet and the global periphery truly sustainable economic system.
Level extinction of other species and the destruction of vital ecosystems and reaches a
critical level, it is simply not have a choice, so if you do not want to drive decadent

and deepening inequality that 'those above' real interest in change for the better and do
not in principle have not. It's up to us, the underprivileged class. Let's stick together,
let's build alternatives, and above all, let us not be lulled by promises of known liars,
who have no real interest in ensuring that the underprivileged have had better. If it is
true, at least a pinch of what we think of themselves as human species vybájili, we can
accomplish amazing things.

On November 15 held in Athens scheduled visit of the head of the US State Barack Obama. -
The official agenda of the presence determines the actual extensions of the scope of
authoritarian management, enforcement and competition: geopolitical associations, refugee,
economy. - The state of the USA It is the leader of the western domination blocks having
the lead in establishing campaign of modern totalitarianism. - The war in the capitalist
periphery, deepening of control and suppression within Western societies, the deepening of
the looting of the great social majority and the destruction of the natural world is the
result of the temporal aspirations -and unresolved contradictions of synepagontai-
state-capitalist system. ---- Objectives and contradictions that produce deep and total
discretion, as goes with policy; the value of the bankruptcy.
in this colonization enterprise every aspect of social life from the authoritarian
brutality, leading the American state for decades having central role in strengthening
global restructuring process of state-capitalist world through the creation and upgrading
of transnational authoritarian mechanisms, functioning as a 'standard' repressive laboratory.
the "anti" terrorist crusades that have caused thousands of deaths and massive uprooting
large populations, the massive murder black Americans, the institutional strengthening of
the regime through special laws, prisons and militarized enforcement bodies are joints of
generalized war which has declared the American state both within its territory and
internationally as a leading part of world domination, which answers the general the
crisis through the attack of the poor and the outcasts.
An attack carried out with increasing intensity on the part of international political and
financial elite, an integral part of which is the Greek state. Common basis of this uneven
alliance is to maintain the authoritarian organization of societies, the deepening of the
modern slavery conditions, denervation and suppression of social and class resistances, as
well as maintaining the primacy of Western domination blocks and the strengthening of his
power in the field of international competition geopolitical.
the military, political, economic and cultural expansionism of Western rulers blocks
attempts to derive legitimacy and consent of the misery itself produces world: war,
uprooting, poverty, social cannibalism, are simultaneously derivatives of state-capitalist
system and fearful sights towards the impoverished masses. The ideological aspect of this
expansionism encompasses viewing the state-capitalist world as ineluctable reality within
which there can be only bourgeois pseudo-management dilemmas generalized authoritarian rot.
The Greek state as a member of the EU and NATO is firmly oriented pursuits the dominant
politico-economic elite which is an integral part. The political governance of Syriza -
who came to power by pressing on the social and class struggles of the last decade in
order to diffuse denervation social discontent, sowed frustration and fear, eased social
and class reflexes and hit the racing action.
It peaked class looting, slandered vulgar resistors of the present without hesitation
abusing simultaneously (and trivializes) the fights yesterday. Unleashed repressive
operations against occupied spaces struggle and solidarity, hit class and social
mobilization through the riot police, imprisoned refugees and immigrants and set up
camp-ghetto excluding them from the social space.
In short fulfilled and fulfill their mission in full, which is not other than constant
effort to track their share, for the unhindered enforcement of modern dictatorship of the
State and the Capital of modern Totalitarianism. This common pursuit, joining the
indestructible Greek and the American state is the basis of all authoritarian alliance.
Opposite stands a long series of struggles internationally, a constant threat to the
authoritarian elite, a freedom path remains open to plebeians. In the US, the massive
workers strikes for starvation wages and rebellions against the murderous racist state
violence, struggles of prisoners against the prison industry and the mobilizations of
immigrants keep alive the resistance. Being in solidarity with these struggles seek
international solidarity and continuity of resistance, in a social and class field that
has been hacked by the blood and the tireless efforts of movements for solidarity,
equality and freedom.

In the absence of concerted international pressure on Turkey to rein in Erdogan's
authoritarianism, the only plausible outcome is further violence. ---- The political
situation in Turkey continues to deteriorate in the wake of the attempted coup d'état in
July 2016, allegedly organized by the Gülen Movement, a former ally of the ruling Justice
and Development Party (AKP). It has in fact led to a slow incremental counter-coup where
Erdogan and his cronies have progressively jailed, marginalized and silenced opponents of
all hues - but especially the Kurdish movement. ---- The botched coup has conceded the
Erdogan regime the pretext to arrest 80,000 suspects, 40,000 of whom remain in custody,
while forcing the shutdown of more than 150 publications, the firing of more than 100,000
civil servants and the re-staffing of the army's upper echelons with Erdogan loyalists. It
has also furnished Erdogan with the opportunity to eradicate his principal political
opponent, the pro-Kurdish, leftist People's Democratic Party (HDP), which had been
hindering his assumption of complete parliamentary control. Erdogan's campaign culminated
in the arrest of twelve HDP MPs, including its co-chairs Selahattin Demirtas and Figen
Yüksekdag last Friday.
The HDP had no role in the coup attempt. The party immediately repudiated the coup - it
was even commended for its stance at the time by Erdogan's puppet Prime Minister, Binali
Yildirim. In spite of Erdogan's calculated sabotage in 2015 of the peace process, which
had been intended to bring an end to the conflict between the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK)
and the Turkish state, there was no Kurdish support for the 2016 coup. Indeed, many of the
senior military figures who have subsequently been unveiled as the coup's instigators were
directly involved in the brutal counter-insurgency in Kurdistan in the recent past.
Nonetheless, since July, the Erdogan regime has used emergency rule legislation to
relentlessly target all elements of the pro-Kurdish political spectrum. A range of
municipally-funded grassroots cooperatives have had all financial support stopped.
Language schools were shut down and 1,000 Kurdish teachers were fired. Even Zarok TV, a
Kurdish language TV station for children, was closed.
In September, the government passed a decree that dismissed 28 municipal governments and
replaced them with directly appointed trustee governors. Twenty-four of the 28
municipalities were in Kurdistan and under the control of the HDP's local sister party,
the DBP. Currently, around thirty elected Kurdish mayors are in prison and a further
seventy have been fired. This blatant interference in local governance overrode the
democratically expressed wishes of the millions of Kurds and other ethnic and religious
minorities in Kurdistan that voted for their municipal authorities. In October, the
co-mayors of Diyarbakir Gultan Kisanak and Firat Anli were arrested on multiple trumped-up
charges, including facilitating the return of Kurdish guerrillas' bodies for burial.
However, the arrest of the high-profile and internationally recognised HDP leadership is a
marked escalation by the Turkish government. It does admittedly follow in Turkey's
notorious tradition of both legal and extra-legal victimization of the Kurdish
parliamentary party since the 1990s. Violence against the HDP and its supporters peaked in
the summer 2015 when the party passed the 10 percent electoral threshold for the first
time to take its place in the Turkish parliament. Its presence in parliament denied
Erdogan the possibility of the overall majority required to amend the constitution to
transform the Turkish government into a presidential system, wherein he would personally
have hugely enhanced powers at the expense of the assembly.
A report by Turkish human rights organization IHD confirmed that 114 attacks were
conducted against the HDP in the lead-up to the June election, resulting in 47 injuries.
There was also an ISIS bombing of a HDP rally in Diyarbakir, which killed three party
supporters and injured hundreds. The violence intensified after the election with a series
of ISIS bomb attacks against the HDP in Suruc and Ankara, which resulted in huge casualties.
Although, it remains to be confirmed, there are strong grounds for suspicion that elements
within the Turkish security forces colluded with ISIS or at least had forewarning of these
attacks. Furthermore, in autumn 2015, the Turkish security forces launched a huge military
campaign to dislodge Kurdish youths affiliated to the PKK from a number of Kurdish city
centers. The campaign resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths and the destruction of a
number of historic and culturally symbolic Kurdish city centers.
The imprisonment of the HDP deputies should be seen as a continuation of Erdogan's
anti-Kurdish campaign, and will lead to the almost certain proscription of the party
overall. Given the electoral balance of power in Kurdistan, it is evident that the AKP
will obtain the ousted HDP's seats allowing the AKP, with the potential support of the
far-right MHP, to realize their vision of a reconfigured governmental structure, headed
inevitably by Erdogan.
Aside from the domestic political developments, there is also a regional aspect to
Erdogan's strategy. Turkey has recently intervened in the Syrian civil war, ostensibly
targeting ISIS but in reality dedicating all its efforts to combating the Syrian Defense
Forces forces, aligned to the PKK's sister party in Syria, the Democratic Union Party
(PYD). Turkish forces have bombarded Kurdish positions in Syria and are evidently
concerned with maintaining the Jarablus corridor, which prevents territorial contiguity
between the three Kurdish cantons ruled by the Kurdish movement and its local allies in
Rojava.
Turkey's increasing military belligerence is rooted in a policy shift that favors the
taking of pre-emptive action outside of Turkey's borders to protect its self-defined
interests. It has already launched Euphrates Shield to weaken the Kurds in Syria and is
currently positioning itself to engage more broadly to "protect" Sunni and Turkmen in
Mosul. The campaign against the Kurds outside Turkey's borders must be considered as part
of a regional anti-Kurdish strategy which targets not only the armed PKK and PYD but also
the parliamentary Kurdish representatives.
It remains to be seen how the Kurdish movement will respond to these recent developments.
On November 4, a suicide bomb attack was launched against a police building where many of
the HDP deputies had been detained. Two of them, Figen Yüksekdag and Ankara deputy Sirri
Süreyya Önder, were actually in the building at the time of the attack, and local DBP
politician Recai Altay was fatally wounded. The bombing was claimed by ISIS
(interestingly, they have not publicly claimed any of its previous attacks within Turkey).
The HDP immediately issued a statement demanding that the police release all information
regarding the attack. At the very least, it seems to have been a remarkable coincidence
that an ISIS bomber would target this particular building shortly after some of the HDP's
most prominent politicians were held there. To add to the confusion, a PKK splinter group
named TAK has also claimed the attack and apologized for Altay's death. Aside from this
bombing, there has not been a marked upsurge in violence - but with the closure of any
institutional political avenues it seems only a question of time before Kurdish political
frustrations are channelled toward the PKK and its armed forces.
Through her lawyer, Yüksekdag released the following brief statement:
Despite everything, they can't consume our hope, or break our resistance. Whether in
prison or not, the HDP and us, we are still Turkey's only option for to freedom and
democracy. And that's why they are so afraid of us. Do not, not a single one of you, allow
yourself to be demoralized, do not drop your guard, do not weaken your resistance. Do not
forget that this hatred and aggression is rooted in fear. Love and courage will definitely
win.
Her courage and hopefulness can only be admired, but without prospects of any peaceful
stabilization of the conflict, it would be unrealistic to speak of resolution at this
stage. As the respected Turkish intellectual Cengiz Candar put it, "with what happened in
the last week, Turkey is steadily moving on the road to fascism." It seems that an EU
associate member and NATO member is heading toward outright dictatorship - to the broad
indifference of the European Union. In the absence of concerted international pressure on
Turkey to rein in Erdogan's megalomaniacal authoritarianism, the only plausible outcome is
further and much more extensive violence.

The European Association against violence against women at work (AVFT) is an association
that aims to fight against violence, gender and sexual especially at work. Laure Ignatius
legal policy officer at AVFT, answers our questions on the reception and listening to
victims. ---- Alternative Libertaire: In what context and for what purposes AVFT has she
created? ---- Laure Ignatius: The AVFT was created to make visible and fight against male
sexual violence as part of work at a time when there was no law against sexual harassment
in France, either in labor law or Criminal Law. Marie-Victoire Louis, feminist activist,
researcher at CNRS, who conducted research on the history of the seigneur of law in France
(published in a book entitled The seigneur of Law. France from 1860 to 1930 ), a victim of
sexual harassment and wife Yvette Leaflet, MEP, created AVFT and themselves the first task
to pass a law against sexual harassment, which was achieved through the introduction of
the offense of sexual harassment in the penal code in 1994.
From when will we talk about sexual violence? Who are the victims?
There is violence exercised when physical coercion, moral or psychological, for sexual
purposes or when or about sexual behavior are exercised when the person who is the
addressee is not voluntarily acceded.
Victims are (in our records) to 99% of women, from all social backgrounds, from all
socio-professional categories, of all ages and from all cultural or "ethnic" origins. The
trend we nevertheless find the most are young women (under 35) so early in the career.
What steps passes a person who suffers such violence?
Women who experience sexual harassment, sexual assault on their workplace will first think
that the problem comes from them and they have the power to change things. They go well,
mostly, develop avoidance strategies (do not go through such a corridor, ask a colleague
to wait for them at the end of the work, pull the drawers of their desks to avoid the
passage of perpetrator behind it but also stop makeup, dress in loose clothing to hide
their forms ...).
They think that the stalker will get tired, move on, understand that they do not agree or
do not find them attractive. It does not work and harassment continue, which will have an
impact on their health (insomnia, fatigue, stomach ache, head ...). Quite often stalkers
shall adjust moments of respite to women let them think, "he understood" without firing a
shot, sexual harassment continues. It is very unsettling for them.
When they go, the more firmly than before, refuse to continue to experience this behavior,
they face professional retaliation by the harasser. He then everything for crack
(denigration, humiliation, it pushes the fault shelved ...). These reprisals in the form
of bullying. It is often at this time they are placed on sick leave.
How do you welcome the victims who turn to you?
Most women we have at the phone and then we draw a "first call" profile: they relate us
the violence they suffered, we review the steps they have already made and
professional-le-s they have already seized es. If there are essential steps to take
depending on the situation of women (still in use, about to be fired ...), we are moving
in this context. As such, we offer them to reread the letters they have written (typically
and regularly, an official letter of denunciation of sexual violence at company director
with acknowledgment of receipt).
If we can support a woman in length, because our workload allows, we ask an account of the
facts, and then we receive maintenance for two mission entrusted to return again denounced
the violence. We will then truly in detail, dissect the strategies used by the stalker,
ask questions to understand the reactions of the victim to the violence and ask for
clarification about the context of these, refining the sometimes confusing chronology of
violence (these last causing memory problems). Once past these steps, we can engage AVFT
at his side: write to the prosecutor to support a complaint to the employer setting out
its legal and jurisprudential obligations of prevention, response, protection, etc., or
point his failings in the matter. Then, if the woman initiates prud'homales procedures we
can offer it to intervene voluntarily before the industrial tribunal to bring the
expertise of AVFT. If, following a complaint, the perpetrator is prosecuted before the
criminal court, we can offer it to us constitute civil party in the same objective.
In these lawsuits, we ask repair of damage to the statutory purpose of AVFT employer / abuser.
What other organizations do you work with this support?
We work from time to time with or delegate staff or employee of the adviser who
accompanied the woman disciplinary interview, especially to coordinate our respective
actions and so that it is not harmful to women. When we support women, other associations
not act except possibly providing psychological support to the female victim.
What advice can you give to someone who is a victim of violence confide?
First, I would advise him to really listen, not to put his word into doubt, give him
credit and say that it denounces violence are not normal and are punishable by law. I
would also advise him, to the extent possible, to note immediately the violence are
reported and of the date of this narrative (whether to issue a certificate later, she can
do it with much precision).
Even better since leaving traces is precious: send an email or text message to the victim
after, reminding him the violence it has brought to its attention, that the witness
remains at its disposal if it wants to be shouldered denounce officially.
This indicator can also advise him to go talk to occupational health and labor inspection,
two professional-le-s bound to secrecy.

and act in accordance with them, as we do all the last years consistently.
and true, what can be said about the deputy mayor, that stealthily dawn downloads a
fascist banners as the same happened with the previous two, which were posted last week? A
local initiative against auctions and foreclosures, and an even ours solidarity for
persecuted students!
So at the same time your mayor downs banners, the same time as alderman of the same party

same time the prefect Bakogiannis (the Mitsotakaiiko), manage "model structure", ie the

Tuesday night many of us were shocked about the election of Drumpf. Social media was full
of disbelief and fear. People felt a new era approaching, an era of mass deportation and
registering Muslims, an era where white nationalists are comfortable in public. Last night
in Richmond, Virginia, I caught a glimpse of another beginning. ---- A local radical
organization posted a call for a 9pm protest gathering at Monroe Park, which sits adjacent
to Virginia Commonwealth University, a rapidly expanding working class school. Black Rose
militants, along with other revolutionaries, were involved in calling for the protest but
our control over the nights events ended with the posting of a meme. The march left the
park shortly after we dumped a bundle of signs to be distributed. While so many
demonstrations begin late, this march nearly stepped off early.
The largely student march began with perhaps 300 people which is rather impressive since
it departed from the park about five minutes after the posted start time. Our ranks
quickly swelled though as angry young people joined the march by the dozens. The march
couldn't be contained by the RPD as it wound its way through the busy Broad Street area.
Some in the crowd worked to spread the chant "Love Drumpf's Hate" but slogans like "Pussy
Grabs Back" and "No Drumpf! No KKK! No Fascist USA" were clearly crowd favorites. Once the
crowd raised the slogan "Michelle 2020", but much more often the group asserted "Black
Lives Matter" and "Trans Lives Matter". Demonstrations, like social movements, are full of
contradictory view points but on Wednesday night, radical critiques certainly were dominate.
While the march at one point seemed aimless, things became more clear when protesters
turned toward I-95. No one I spoke to could ever remember protesters taking to the
interstate in Richmond. I even laughed at a guy who suggested it because it seemed so
unlikely. Much like the contradictions among the crowd over slogans, some didn't believe
the march should take the interstate. However, our march not only took the interstate, it
also spontaneously decided to snake march onto ramps and across medians for an hour.
Rather than occupy one space, the march restlessly sought to spread its message. While
this tactic did present some safety concerns, it also successfully avoided containment by
the police and kept the spirit of demonstrators high.
When the march finally exited the interstate an hour later, it received a warm welcome
from the residents of nearby Gilpin Court, a housing project located near the highway.
Against the urging of many, the march turned from this neighborhood back toward campus. I
watched the excitement of residents melt away as the march pulled away. Protests in
Richmond have often avoided Gilpin Court and other Black residential neighborhoods, likely
a reflection of the priorities of the

Anarchist Federation (AF) will participate in a demonstration on Thursday, November 17
organized in Prague Initiative No Racism! ( INR ) titled "Nationalism is not an
alternative: For a free and solidary society". If you really anything serious does not
preclude arrive also. The event begins at the plaza in front of the main train station
(Vrchlickeho sets) 10.00. ---- The following is a statement INR to demonstrate: ---- By
Thursday, November 17, we intend to demonstrate in the streets of Prague. Bring into
public space theme of solidarity without borders nationalism and criticism of the
political mainstream. At the same time neprenecháme streets ultra right to their own
propaganda. Join! ---- Prague city center, hundreds of people on the squares in the hands
wield Czech flags and invoke strong-arm rule. "Decent Czechs' along with known underworld
figures ultranationalist encourage attacks on" traitors "who allegedly threaten national
sovereignty.
Words of Czech culture, national values and fear for our children not only hear similar
events. Vypjatému legitimacy of nationalism deliver his statements political leaders. It
seems that it is no longer a problem when Deputy Prime Minister denies the Holocaust and
Roma Gypsies spoken of as those who do not want to work. It seems to already be normal
when the Interior Minister said that the Czech Republic has not taken even a single
refugee, and while his subordinate, responsible for Czech migration and asylum policy,
meets in discussion panels alongside well-known xenophobes, war refugees are referred to
as economic migrants and the EU's efforts to solve at least partially migration crisis
refers to as neomarxististický experiment. All this in a situation where the waves of the
Mediterranean vanishing more and more people to flee and tens of thousands of others
languish in appalling conditions in overcrowded camps in Greece and elsewhere.
Now the political mainstream political practice moves increasingly to the right, towards
populism and authoritarianism. Recalling the feeling of threat works reliably as a tool to
distract attention from the real problems. In an atmosphere of fear has received far less
attention to the lack of social housing, low wages or underfunding of important sectors
such as education and health. Populist rhetoric sets aside the real problems of people in
material need and is dedicated to creating abstract threats, such as threats to national
interests and the decline of the traditional family. Already mentioned national values we
supposedly have to defend at all costs, even if it is not entirely clear what is under
that label actually hides. Sometimes it might seem that this is mainly a right to cheap
beer and sausage and the government over the fate of "our women", which must be for the
pleasure of Czech men remain exposed.
Except Okamurovy SPD fell far-right political party, which is on the Czech political scene
several in recent senatorial and regional elections pathetic. However, this is not a
reason to cheer. They are the only tip of the iceberg Czech reactionary policies. This one
actually promotes the practice of fascist measures are part of the political mainstream.
And both the central and local level. It's nothing new. But it looks as introducing such
measures into practice with the support of the citizens, we can observe since last summer,
when they were due to the threat they supposedly embody the people on the run, introduced
border controls, trains and highways and streets were dispatched military patrols. Because
of the alleged risk of a terrorist attack is also augment police budgets and there are
proposals to strengthen its powers. The few refugees who strayed into the country, rather
it was closing for a long time in the toll detention facilities. Public against the
violation of their human rights protest too much. There were quite the contrary, those who
actively report to the police every man a little darker complexion, whom encountered in
the critical period. No matter whether they were members of a folk group from Africa or
groups of foreign temporary workers resting after work in a field near the road. Without
greater attention is also returning drábkovské forced to work for the unemployed. How
easily those measures were adopted, political parties assured that the authoritarian and
reactionary policy of the future will be a viable means to keep favor with the electorate.
November 17 in the Czech context perceived as a national holiday. Celebrates the end of
the authoritarian regime, which is usually thought of as something that was external
nation that oppressed him. November 17 is within the nationalist narrative symbol of
emancipation from the yoke of foreign nations and reintegration among other sovereign
nations of the free and democratic Western world. This newfound "national freedom" was not
a win for everyone. He forgets that the regime change did not bring a larger selection of
consumer goods and the freedom to travel for the middle class. The change also affected
the less privileged strata of society. Staronová national pride in conjunction with
anti-communism, which de facto meant a strong aversion to everything leftist, legitimized
the negative effects of the transition to neoliberal capitalism - among other things, the
increase in inequality, social exclusion and rising unemployment - and in an extreme form
led to the racist murders in the 90s and a number of attempts to pogroms during the
economic crisis. Both of these sites are an integral and often overlooked part of a
nationalist story.
But our intention is not to ponder the 27-year-old event, or find inspiration in the
pre-November authoritarian communism, which largely gained its legitimacy also
nationalistic oppression, particularly postwar ethnic cleansing. We want to address the
issues that are burning here and now. The day will bypass the town historical sentiments,
we intend to bring into the public space criticism that it woefully lacking - criticism of
nationalism and the concept of the nation state.
Refugee crisis did not start anything new. That alone again in public spaces reveal the
sentiments of which the liberal part of society might think that they are long forgotten.
Challenges to the deprivation of human rights of those who stood nationalist fury or lend
a helping hand to people on the run, or for shooting people at borders and hanging
"traitors" can not be regarded as a mere fad extreme right. Czech nationalism carries a
history of oppression, exclusion and violence against those who were considered different.
Roma Czechs were ignored as equals and even often idealized First Republic were the others
object of repressive government policies. The Second World War then untied the Czechs and
Czech women hands in the final solution to the Roma issue - in concentration camps in Lety
and Hodonin u Kunštát, where they were the ones who survived, then sent to Auschwitz. Roma
are also currently facing everyday racism and many of them also poverty, difficulties with
finding employment, housing and other problems. Roma were not in Czech history only
oppressed minority - just remember the anti-Semitism of the Second Republic or post-war
expulsion of all those who have German nationality documents, including many anti-fascists
and those who survived the concentration camps. Racism in Czech society is becoming the
norm. The vast majority of Czechs have a negative attitude to Roma and other people who
are not white enough for it to be considered "decent Bohemia". Neither the "brothers
Slovaks" were for a time the existence of a common state in unequal positions.
Relationship Prague to residents of Slovakia was always burdened paternalism and any
expression of dissent was frowned upon as nationalistic Bohemia.
It has a similar history behind almost every nation state. Not by chance. Nations are not
"natural entities" is ancient history, but a product of modernity, which came hand in hand
with capitalism. Nations fulfills a function that does not hold any other form of
identification. Under capitalism dominates the competition, which does not allow everyone
to be winners. National identification enables individuals who are in this competition
failed to make them feel part of the victory of the latter. Become their legal apparatus,
law enforcement authorities and other features creates the conditions to ensure that this
competition could work. This country in which one is born, largely co-determines its
chances on the market. In capitalism, we all have an interest in improving the economic
performance of their own country, because this improves its own chances of success.
Capitalism, the nation and the state are so tightly bound together. And this liaison
deepens in times of crisis, when competition is increasing in the labor market and when to
look for the culprits own failure.
The nation reproduces images using internal and external enemy. In the role of an external
enemy were recently occupied by "the masses of refugees" which, according to this
narrative effortlessly trying to get a share of "our national wealth" or wish to capture
"our women" and destroy "our culture". The role of internal enemy in perspective
nationalists hold currently known. Neomarxisté who in the nationalist discourse occupy a
similar role they played in his time, the Bolsheviks or Masons. In fact, however, that
label called disparate group of people from the liberal right and center, to the radical
left and anarchists.
Sometimes we hear that it is necessary to put nationalism "positive content" and that
national identity is irreplaceable. Although nationalism in the past played an
emancipatory role, history shows that from the moment in specific countries become
"successful", led always sooner or later, the exclusion of certain categories of people,
regardless of whether it is a nation conceived on ethnicity or civic principle. Also
division to "bad nationalism" and "patriotism worthy" is illusory. The nation as a
category of social demarcation inherently leads to the elimination of "other" and the
homogenization of "our", from which requires customization and loyalty. For such an
approach simply can not eliminate the negative content.
Such a situation analysis may sound depressing, but still can not forget the positive
events of the last year. Along with the wave of hatred surged wave of solidarity and a
surprisingly large number of people were involved in practical assistance to refugees.
Part of the company is still able to, in extreme cases, at least condemn hate speech. This
can be the basis for developing a consistent antinacionalismu. If we want to go in their
thinking more deeply, we can not remain only in condemning the violence and calls for
tolerance. It is necessary to clearly show to the core of the problem - a society based on
nations, patriarchy and capitalism. While social and feminist struggle is possible in our
society at least limited experience, the issue of nations and nation-states has not yet
been critically reflected. It is up to us to build alternatives, going against the nation,
the state and capital.
The current progressive Left is not exclusive to mobilize the nation to use. In the
context of the "refugee crisis" is necessary against viewing the world through the lens of
national identities define. We want a world where everyone (including the newcomers) will
be able to freely and fully identify with their neighborhoods, a group of friends, music
style or anything else, what they want without them with the nationalist perspective were
determined limits.
That is why we intend to demonstrate on November 17 in the center. Bring into public space
theme antinacionální solidarity and criticism of nationalism and racism political
mainstream. At the same time neprenecháme streets ultra right to their own propaganda. Join!
Against every nationalism - in solidarity without borders!
