Hi! Recently, warm and rainy days are in continuity due to the recent typhoon. The temperature reached a record high of 30 degrees in October. This is the first for Tokyo in 37 years. There are more people who wear short-sleeved clothes than who wear long-sleeved now. Therefore, I wanted to make a dress with short sleeves and autumn version.
I made these dresses from Vogue 8813 which is a Marcy tilton designed. It's an oversized cocoon shaped and pull over dress pattern. I purchased it a few years ago. I was going to make one from the pattern when I find an appropriate knit fabric. I thought this pattern was used for knits only, but I misunderstood!(゚〇゚ ;) Non-stretch fabrics are available in the pattern.
This dress is my first Vogue 8813. I used stretch cotton and Irish linen. It turned out like bohemian style. I think this dress looks similar to Vogue 1248 (I reviewed that pattern before). It took a lot of time to make Vogue 1248 but Vogue 8813 was more quickly than I expected.

I've just finished the summer version. I wanted to make it soon, while the my idea is still fresh in my mind.
Autumn version: View B. Firstly, I changed the central part design. I had to make the three places of the gathers, but I only made two places. I thought the neck line didn't fit for these gathers, so I eliminated the top of gather.
Summer version: View C. I used SOULEIADO cotton. SOULEIADO is one of my favourite fabrics. The central part needs 1 and 3/8 yd, but I had only 7/8 yd of pink cotton. Therefore, I connected fabrics together with tape into one piece. I changed to a V neckline from a normal neckline and I made a waist band around the central part instead of making gathers. If you don't like oversized dresses, I recommend that you make a waist band. I think a waist band fits my body better than gathers.
My husband thinks this dress looks like a kimono (I think so too ). Recently, I see women in various types of kimonos. For example, it was made of denim, decorated with lace, and printed by Liberty, etc.
To be honest, I didn't like the Vogue8813 instructions. It was little complicated for me, but I love the design. I enjoy thinking about fabric combinations. I have a lot of fabric stash. This pattern is very useful to me.
Fabric and notions: Summer version pink 45" 7/8 yd, Navy 45" 2 5/8 yd, Waist and neck line tape 1 1/8yd
Total time spent: 7hours
