And today's holiday has been created to shine the light of attention on women in rural areas.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the majority of poor people in the world are women, and these women are “overwhelmingly responsible for feeding hungry men and children, as well as themselves.” Does that mean that they're responsible for cooking?
But still, women are generally the last to receive education, support, training, resources, or financial loans.Here's the take-away: investing in rural women equals investing in food security.
