Justice for Animals in India: Tell the Indian Parliament to Pass the Animal Welfare Act

Dear friends,
Just last year, two medical students in India recorded and published a video showing a dog being thrown from a two-story building. And under current Indian law, these criminals could only be fined 10 to 50 rupees — that's just 15 to 75 cents American!
In the face of such injustice, we have an opportunity to protect animals in India. A new Animal Welfare Act has been proposed in the Indian Parliament. If passed, the law would enforce stronger fines and penalties for animal cruelty.
With the new Animal Welfare Act, the perpetrators of the crime described above would face a much bigger penalty. And higher fines and penalties can act as a deterrent, leading to fewer crimes against animals.
That's why this petition is so important. With this petition, we're building international momentum to show Indian lawmakers that more needs to be done in the world's second most populous country to bring justice for animals.
Thank you for taking action,
 Alex B.
