HUNGARY / General update, Ahmed H. show trial, Népszabadság closure

Dear all,

Sorry to be a bit late with out update from September for Hungary, but
here it is:
http://www.migszol.com/blog/60-hungarian-electorate-ignores-the-racist-referendum-but-situation-at-the-border-remains-catastrophic

Tensions are escalating in Serbia because Hungary is so difficult to
enter, camps are being closed in Hungary, the racist propaganda
continues. We are delighted that so many Hungarians are not impressed by
the Fidesz-propaganda, and the 60% (or actually bigger) rejection rate
of the racist referendum was brilliant news.

The struggle for the rights of refugees and migrants in Hungary is more
and more connected to the general struggle for democracy in the country.
We have been truly shocked in the last weeks about the closure of the
largest Hungarian daily newspaper Népszabadság. It is comparable to the
Guardian suddenly closing in the UK. After this, all those people who do
not buy the Fidesz propaganda are at loss in the newspaper outlets, on
which daily to read. This is tragic news also for the coverage on
migration related issues. More here:

Also, please check out and share our update from the latest hearing of
Ahmed H., a Syrian man accused of terrorism by the Hungarian state. He
threw three stones at the police during the mayhem while the
Hungarian-Serbian border was closed in September 2015. More:
