FOCUS ON JESUS!

When Jesus visits Martha and Mary, Martha was busy in the kitchen and then there’s Mary, sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to him speak. Martha later asks Jesus to make Mary help her. He tells Martha that she worries about many things, while Mary has focused on what’s important. We might wonder, wasn’t Martha doing what she was supposed to be doing?

In our daily lives too, many a times we work and work and then forget why we slog and put the hours of work. Husbands and wives spend far more time at work and leisure and less time with each other and with their children. Many priests and religious start involving in too many pastoral works and then are exhausted as they have stopped praying. One’s daily to-do list always will get longer.

Being Mary, sitting at the feet of Jesus and listening to him speak, means to be opening oneself to God, to focus on what’s important. Only then we will able to get most of those things on the to-do list done and do them with a light heart. Like Mary who chose to remain with Jesus. Each one of us is called to make a choice to be with Jesus. Make God your friend and you will enjoy his friendship forever.

Prayer: Oh Lord, May I choose you the better part. Amen.
