Now it does seem like Christmas comes earlier each year, and even my peep has been humming Good King Wenceslas and various carols out of tune.I say humming as peeps singing, like Seville's mom, is way less than desirable and is usually banned to save on glazing repairs and visits from the RSPCF(fw), the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Felines (from wailing).
In response to my protestations, all I hear is that Christmas is around the corner. Now where this corner is completely baffles me, as I've been around the Palace many times as we have many corners, and try as I might, I cant find Christmas anywhere. I even had the Kraken check the moat just in case there were signs of Christmas lurking down there, but all she could find were a few mail bags, with out mail persons, and a selection of Post Office bicycles. purrs
I have, being a thorough Princess, looked around the corners backwards and then backwards whilst facing the other way, and upside down whilst napping, not easy I can tell you. And from on top of the minstrels gallery, which is pretty high and took some doing, but alas there was no Christmas to be seen lurking anywhere. There were however plenty of cobwebs that didn't have planning permission or agree with building webulations or hygiene standards on account of the dust and dead flies, so I gave the families some assisted relocation to the ground floor.
Now, being an amateur algorythmist and all round enquiring Princess, I did the math and after many hours nap... er... cogitating, it seemed like the calendar was right, December does fall after October, so long as you carry forwards the 9 and divide by the number you first thought of and add 30....
Whats that peepers? I missed a month?
WHAT!
What do you mean No Embers in there?
Well I know that, that's what the washer's for in the kitchens, isn't it?
OH....
REALLY?
Who knew? but that sure would explain why the laundry has been looking a bit singed of late. purrs
Whats that? November you say, you mean there is an extra month now!
When did this happen, and why wasn't I told?
I mean this will throw all my plans out completely, and the cream ordering will be all to pot.
Heavens, the single will have turned to double, then clotted, and then to sour if it has to last and extra month. Think of the waste. Mouses!
Hmm... only one thing for it, I need to eat more, a sacrifice I think I can bear. purrs
Hang on a minute, checking this here calendar, I can see the months have NOT been rearranged so Christmas should still be still more than 2 months away. Hardly round the corner, though it is 2 glossy pages and some nice country scenes with mice, away, and Decembers mouse looks most appeti .... er... appealing!
Anyways, maybe it was Christmas that that good King Wenceslas was looking for in the carol? Clearly those ancient peeps had the same sort of problems too!
Whats that peep ol' tone deaf one, it was the feet of Stephen you say? Well I never, I know I occasionally stash a few mousy bits and pieces around the Palace, but I have never lost a peep's feet! Seems mighty careless that, and you would have thought Stephen would have noticed especially given their size. Mouses!
Stephens feast you say? He was looking for Stephens feast! Wow, to lose a whole meal is.... OK I will take back what was about to say and didn't as I know I'm always losi... er... relocating guests, sometimes for weeks at a time. Mind you they never want for things to eat to fatten them up, as there's always some of my kibble around.
In fact one guest I'd housed, took up residence in the Palace sofa and stashed a whole weeks worth of kibble in the hem! My, how peep laughed about that, I alas was NOT AMUSED, especially the visit to my Dr in case I had worms. I mean, as though I would be eating those. Mouses!
Anyways my ol' peep, seems like that king must have fallen on hard times as had to have a part time job delivering take outs and fuel. And in all that snow too. You wouldn't catch this princess out on a night like that, no ma'am, that snow plays havoc with the cuticles, not to mention the wet paw prints on the wool duvet.Whats that peep? He was delivering gifts to the poor, and sharing his table with a peep who lived in the wood?
Hmm, sounds like quite a nice King, to go and deliver food and drink and fuel for a barbecue.
I wonder......
****** Rattling of keyboard ******
Hmm..... seems like there maybe a chance of snow this weekend, OK maybe not here, but it might drift this way, so always better to be prepared. purrs
Peeps, I shall spending the week in the hedge. If you can call that King Wenceslas up and send him directions, I'll be under the Hawthorne bush next to the pile of mail sacks and bicycles.
Oh and tell him to go easy on the yule logs, we wouldn't want him to struggling and hurting his pages back now would we? Of course less logs would mean he could maybe squeeze in a few extra mice, maybe?
Oh and make sure he brings plenty of cream! purrrs
I wonder what other carols peeps knows?
