On Tuesday, October 11 miners in the mine Babino Bobov Dol lignite coalfield went down and
refused to return to the surface after the shift. They began as a protest against the
reduction of wages by about 20 percent and unclear prospects regarding further work. ----
Two weeks last unofficial talks on the closure of the mine, but neither the district
administration nor the authorities were not willing to officially express this theme.
Wages are now miners paid irregularly and last month, according to a statement of the
miners began dismantling the mine. ---- Autonomous Workers Syndicate ARS expressed support
for the miners and their struggle. Anarchosyndicalists support the requirements for full
and immediate payment of wages and food vouchers, to establish fixed standards and
contributions in the event of unemployment. ARS solidarizuje any direct action miners.
Calls while working in other sectors to manifestations of solidarity with the protesters,
because we all face the same problems with employers who exploit the current political and
economic situation.
Bureaucratic trade union Podkrepa, by contrast, tries to persuade miners to protest direct
action stopped and started negotiations. Anarchosyndicalists urged miners to continue
protests until their demands are met.
