He fought for democracy, then the secret police kidnapped him‏

#FreeYon, a Freedom Activist Kidnapped by the Venezuelan Government!

Dear friends,
Yon Goicoechea is my friend. He's also a pro-democracy activist in Venezuela, and he's just been kidnapped by the Venezuelan secret police. He is currently being held in a tiny, filthy cell, in a facility where detainees reportedly endure psychological and physical torture.
Venezuela is in the midst of an economic and social crisis. The government's policies have created shortages of food, water, medicine, electricity and beyond, and the regime has become incredibly unpopular.
But instead of addressing these issues, the government is cracking down on activists who are working to make things better – activists like Yon.
Yon is well-known for his commitment to non-violence, democracy, and human freedom, which even won him the Milton Friedman Prize in 2008. But now, a top regime official is claiming the state arrested Yon because he was supposedly carrying explosives. This couldn't be further from the truth, and is just an example of the government twisting his good work.
Thank you,
 Alex McHugh
