Ostroumov S.A. , Kolesov G.M. On the role of biogenic detritus in accumulation of elements in aquatic systems. The biogenic detritus that accumulated during more than 7 months in the microcosms with mollusks Viviparus viviparus, Unio pictorum, and aquatic plants Ceratophyllum demersum, contained several elements. For the first time the concentrations of those elements in the detritus of this type were measured. Their concentrations were measured using neutron activation analysis (NAA). The concentrations of the elements decreased in the order: Ca > Zn > Ba > Br > Ce > Se > Nd > La > U > Hf > Sb > Th > Sm > S> Cs > Au. The new data improved the modern understanding of the multifunctional role of the biological community (biological organisms, biota) in the functioning of water systems.
