13-year-old rape survivor denied an abortion‏

Let 13-Year-Old Rape Survivor Citlali Have An Abortion

Dear friends,
Citlali was 13 years old when she was raped and impregnated by a family acquaintance. And it happened in her own home.
After the attack this May, she immediately went to the police station, where medical evidence confirmed that she had endured sexual violence. But when the case came before a judge, he decided the assault was actually consensual. Instead, he charged the rapist with "illegal sex with a minor."
Even though experts agree that Citlali's assault was clearly a rape, and therefore legal abortion is completely justified, Mexican authorities are still planning to force this child to become a mother. Sign the petition to allow Citlali to terminate this traumatizing pregnancy.
Ordinarily, rape survivors are allowed to seek abortions in Mexico. But because the legal system does not consider Citlali a rape survivor, she has been barred from ending the pregnancy brought on by her attack.
We can not abandon Citlali to such a cruel fate. This young girl's life has already been irreparably scarred by these horrific events. Continuing a pregnancy brought on by rape would only cause her more trauma and pain.
Thank you,
 Miranda B.
