Veterinary Highlights: Decline in Male Dog Fertility

A new study conducted at the University of Nottingham, UK, has discovered a sharp decline in male dog fertility. The research has found that over past 26- year period sperm quality in the population of stud dogs had dropped significantly.

The study links this decline to environmental contaminants.

The study included five breeds of dogs, with about 42 - 97 dogs studied every year for total of 26 years.

Negative effects of our environment on health is not really surprising.

The question that does remain is how deep this rabbit hole is and what else we have to look forward to in the future.
