THE POWER OF AUTHORITY!
In today’s Gospel, we see the account of the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law. Jesus often healed through touch but he also spoke the Word and healed by means of command. The latter is emphasized in the Gospel, the command is addressed to the disease itself, just as Jesus addressed the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee with the command, “Peace, be still!” (Mk 4: 39), and the storm ceased. Is this possible of a disciple of Christ in the present day. The fact is that the real command comes from authority and not power. Therefore we need to be disciples filled with authority and not coupled with power. This happens only and only with Christ-experience and not Christ-knowledge.
Prayer: Lord, give us a share in Your authority. Amen.
