LOSING ONE'S LIFE IS A REAL GAIN!

Jesus tells us in the gospel that we must deny our self to follow him. Deny means disown, disregard, forsake, renounce, reject, refuse, restrain, disclaim, subdue, disregard one's self or interest. It is saying 'yes' to Christ and 'no' to self. The reason for such denial is that our soul is worth more than the whole world. Once a man has lost his soul, it is lost. It cannot be bought back. The man who forfeits it, suffers the loss of it forever. The cross, apparently, is in a way losing one's life; but in reality, it is truly a gain. The sacrifice of Christ became a great reward. Am I ready then to deny myself, take up the cross and follow Christ?

Prayer: My Lord and my God, take all from me that keeps me far from Thee; My Lord and my God, give all to me that brings me close to Thee; My Lord and my God, take self from me and give me all to Thee. Amen.
