GOD'S GENEROSITY!

God is our creator, conserver and provider. He gives us life continually. His steadfast love towards us is unremitting. He fulfills his plans in his own way and uses all persons and things for this end. St Paul reminds us that our call is a pure gift, given not to the worldly great, but to the lowly. All our righteousness, holiness and salvation come from him. We should be open to this call and respond to it appropriately.

What do we see today in the gospel: there is the Lord, extremely rich who wishes the good of his workers and trusts them; he entrusts them not with a small amount; but minimum of a talent (a talent was worth more than fifteen years' wages of a labourer). The Lord has created us out of love and guides us with that same love. He gives strength and graces in abundance. All are not given the same gifts and blessings. Even the one who is given little is given a plenty. It is true that all are not given equally. Our human intelligence may not have an answer for this. But we will be judged if we do not use what is given.

Prayer: Lord, give me the wisdom to use your gifts adequately. Amen.
