THE DIVINE POTTER!

In today’s liturgy of the word, God, the wise teacher uses two imageries from our day today realities in order to teach us something supernatural. They are - the image of the clay, pot and the potter and the imagery of fish, dragnet that is cast and hauled by the fishermen. While the latter asserts that there exists in the world the wickedness, imperfection, evil and sin which the Lord will judge one day, the former tells us the desire and the plan of God to purify us from all defilements and to mould us and transform us day by day into his likeness. It is the divine grace that God pours into our hearts that will purify as and transform us. The Divine Potter has offered us many ways to avail of his grace. The Word of God, the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, life of prayer, fasts and penances, charity and good works, patient enduring of our own daily cross and many such ways. All these will lead us on the path of holiness and grace. Let us then avail the abundant grace that the Divine Potter is ready to offer us and grow in grace until we attain its fullness in his Kingdom.

Prayer of St. Alphonsa: O Lord Jesus, hide me in the wound of your sacred heart. Free me from my desire to be loved and esteemed …make me one with you. Amen.
