It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
Other Than Reading...
I had a quiet 4th of July holiday and a quiet week too. We have had some strong thunderstorms in the area with strong winds and damaging hail but the first storm went just north of us and the second storm went just south of us. All we got here in the city of Duluth was some rain and some truly epic thunder.
Read Last Week
I began the week by reading two more books in the Pink Carnation series. I have these planned out to be reviewed on Wednesdays until I finish the series.
The Betrayal of the Blood Lily by Lauren Willig takes place in India and introduces a few more flower spies. My review will be posted on August 10.
The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig was one of the funniest of the series so far. It takes place around Christmas time and stars "Turnip" Fitzhugh who prides himself on not thinking but who turns into quite a hero anyway. My review will be posted on August 17.
I needed a book to take with me out to dinner and wanted something on my Kindle instead of in print. I chose Penric and the Shaman by Lois McMaster Bujold which is her most recent novella in the World of the Five Gods. I enjoyed Penric's second adventure and always enjoy Lois's writing. I won't be reviewing this one on my blog but you can see my GoodReads review here.
Thrill Kill by Brian Thiem is my second mystery by this author. It also stars Matt Sinclair who works homicide in Oakland, California. This was a good police procedural that had a nicely twisty plot. My review will be posted on August 11.
I read The Crepes of Wrath by Sarah Fox from my review stack. This was an entertaining cozy and had some tasty sounding recipes too. My review will be posted on August 20 for this August 16 release.
To celebrate the publication of Alliance of Equals by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, I decided to re-read this book which I had read in an eARC version at the end of March. The book stands up well to re-reading and I enjoyed it very much again. My review from the first reading is here.
