The main achievements of the researcher, Sergei:
http://5bio5.blogspot.com/2016/06/who-is-who-according-to-rating-of.html

(1) Sergei co-authored a unique monograph on nature conservation:  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/200637729;  the Russian version of this book  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/265050851 ; both books contributed substantially to conservation biology and protection of biodiversity. These books are now on the shortlist of the most important and useful books on nature conservation. The Russian edition of the book is recommented to students that enter graduate school in Russia and to the researchers that are to get the Ph.D. degree on ecology;

(2) He authored - on the basis of his experimental work - another unique monograph on biological (toxic) effects of surfactants, which is among 100 world bestsellers in Toxicology; see his book 'Biological Effects of Surfactants', the first English language monograph on environmental hazards of detergents:  https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259364716 ;

(3) Sergei made a certified scientific discovery on ecotoxicology, Diploma of Scientific Discovery No. 274; the discovery was favorably evaluated by Academician G.V.Dobrovolsky in his book.

(4) He created a new ecological scientific discipline, biochemical ecology, in his book 'Introduction to Biochemical Ecology', which was the first book on this subject in the international scientific literature; this book was translated into two other European languages;

(5) Sergei formulated a new theory of biological (biotic) self-purification of water in aquatic ecosystems, which contributed substantially to the scientific basis for water safety and water sustainability:

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/216167144 ;
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/227317445  [journal: RUSSIAN JOURNAL OF ECOLOGY];

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/215586879  [journal: Water Resources];

(6) He discovered a new functional type of the matter (the substances) in the biosphere, in addition to the traditionally known two types of the matter, which is substantial development of V.I.Vernadsky theory of the biosphere, with useful application to detoxification of the environment;

(7) Sergei conducted a unique series of successful experiments on hazardous effects of man-made chemicals, water phytoremediation, and biosorption of toxic chemical elements;
