In the run up to the summer break can we take this opportunity to remind everybody that the RMP run a Vacant Property Check Scheme. Simply visit the Guard Room in Medicina Lines and fill out a form and your quarter will be checked by security patrols whilst you are away from it. Forms are also available in the SSO’s Dept in the New Community Centre.
Recently RMP have noticed an increase on social media of people speaking about a rise in “break ins” and thefts on our estates. Hopefully we can reassure you by saying that there has been no such rise, in fact Brunei is still one of the safest postings the Forces has to offer when it comes to theft related crime.
Speaking about perceived suspicious incidents or incidents of theft on social media is not normally productive, especially if it is done so before informing a policing agency. Please think before you post and if you do see anything suspicious then please call RMP IMMEDIATELY on 8716245.
We in the RMP are disappointed to hear that people feel unsafe in their homes but still leave their possessions insecure outside of it. Thieves are nearly always opportunistic and will target homes where they perceive security to be weak. Please do not leave your possessions insecure.
Stopping yourself becoming a target for thieves is easy and can be summed up in the following steps:
Step 1.
Do not leave anything that you do not want stolen insecure or on display.
Step 2.
Report any suspicious incidents you witness to the RMP immediately on 871 6245.
Step 3.
Inform the RMP if your quarter is going to be empty.
Step 4.
Do not ‘advertise’ on social media that you are away on holiday. Wait until you return to post your photographs!
