It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (June 6, 2016)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Other Than Reading...

Friday was the last day with students for this school year. We still have a final staff day on Monday but then the year will be wrapped up. Last week people commented that I must be sad to see my students go. I'm not...because, in most cases, they are not going anywhere. I am a K-12 Media Specialist and see the same students for classes from Kindergarten through sixth grade. Even after I don't have them in class anymore, I still see them when they come to use the media center in grades 7 - 12. Sometimes this is a good thing, other times...not so much.

I had a bit of excitement when I came home last Tuesday after work to find out that the guys who mow the lawn for my townhouse association managed to shoot a rock into my patio door. At first, I thought that it was rain caught in the screen until I realized that that side of door doesn't have a screen. The network of cracks is actually kind of attractive but I doubt that it is safe or energy efficient with the hole in it. Anyway, I've been on the phone a lot to insurance companies and companies who can repair the glass. I'm in a bit of a time crunch because it is my plan to leave on June 14 and not return until August 28. I really want a whole door before I go.

Since I'm hanging around here for the next week while waiting for a doctor's appointment, I hope to have lots of reading and relaxing time.

Read Last Week
Dick Francis's Damage by Felix Francis was an entertaining mystery with great characters. My review will be posted on June 29.

The Waking Fire by Anthony Ryan was a review book that will be released on July 5. It begins an epic fantasy series and was quite a chunkster because it introduced a number of characters and built a fascinating world. Viewpoint characters switched off and, since they were in different parts of the world, a complex story was built. My review will be posted on June 30.

Currently
Next on my stack is A Most Curious Murder by Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli. I got this eARC from NetGalley from Crooked Lane Books. It will be released on July 12.

Next Week
Then I'll be reading Dark Road Home by Anna Carlisle. This is another July 12 mystery release from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley.

I dug into TBR mountain for the rest of next week's planned books.

Enemy Games by Marcella Burnard has been on my stack since July 2013 when I read the first in this science fiction romance series.
Front Runner by Felix Francis is on the stack too. This stars the same main character as Damage. This is a recent arrival to TBR mountain since I got it in 2016.

The Wild Ways by Tanya Huff also caught my eye. This one has been on the stack since 2011.

I didn't add anything this week. My TBR mountain will keep me busy for years.
