HEART PONDERING ON GOD!
We read today that Joseph took his family down to Jerusalem every Passover to fulfill his duty. Joseph and Mary made the three day journey from Nazareth each year. It was during one such journey that they lost Jesus.
In the Gospel passage we are told that the parents of Jesus found him sitting in the temple. Sitting was usually a posture for teachers. A question and answer type of teaching environment was there in Jewish tradition and the Jewish teachers were obviously amazed at the questions and the answers that came from a twelve year old boy. "All who heard him were astounded". Luke is telling us that even as a small boy, Jesus was already preparing Himself as a teacher who obviously possessed great wisdom and authority. Finally we are told that, "He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them.” Though He was of the same nature as God, he "came down" from that spiritually high place and became one with the people. What a lesson! Mary treasured all these mysteries in her heart and invites us to do the same. Do we like Mary treasure our divine encounters?
Prayer: Lord help me to find you in the day to day events of my life and treasure your divine mystery just as Mother Mary did. Amen.
