De Turkse staat slaat op hol: de covoorzitter van onze partnerorganisatie Kurdî-Der in Noord-Koerdistan (Turkije), de heer Ozan Kiliç, is aangehouden!
De Koerdische strijd zet zich in tegen identiteitsontkenning, assimilatie en totale uitroeiing. Sinds de stichting van de staat Turkije zijn vele talen, culturen, religies en volkeren ontkend en volledig verdwenen. Die staatspolitiek wordt tot op de dag van vandaag uitgevoerd.
Eén van die volkeren in gevaar is het Koerdische volk. Ze heeft genocides, ontkenning en onderdrukking gekend. Maar dit volk heeft sinds het begin een zware strijd gevoerd om te kunnen overleven. Die strijd is nu nog steeds bezig.
De Turkse staat heeft geen enkele kans gegeven aan de democratische strijd. Alle eisen van de Koerden voor hun rechten werden geterroriseerd. Sinds de jaren ‘90 wordt de Koerdische strijd onder het mom van ‘de strijd tegen het terrorisme’ hard aangepakt.
Koerdische politici werden met allerlei operaties aangehouden, opgesloten en gestraft. Vele politieke, sociale, culturele en vakorganisaties werden juridisch vervolgd en gesloten.
Op 25 mei 2016 werd ook de covoorzitter van Kurdî-Der, het centrum voor onderzoek en bevordering van de Koerdische taal in Diyarbakir, de heer Ozan Kiliç, aangehouden. Kurdî Der is een legale en gerespecteerde organisatie die zich inzet voor de Koerdische taal en een partner van het Koerdisch Instituut voor het project “Ez mafên xwe dizanim” (een project rond mensenrechteneducatie en onderwijs in de moedertaal in het kader van Erasmus+, gesubsidieerd door de Europese Commissie). De aanhouding van de heer Ozan Kiliç toont aan hoe het eraan toegaat als het gaat om de Koerdische taal. Het toont aan dat de Turkse staat niet van plan is om de realiteit onder ogen te zien en identiek dezelfde staatspolitiek voert als in haar stichtingsjaren, nl. één van ontkenning, assimilatie en uitroeiing.
De Turkse staat moet dringend haar beleid veranderen t.o.v. de andere etnische en religieuze groepen in het land. Om een mooie democratische samenleving te kunnen bouwen, hebben we een democratiseringsproces nodig. Tot nu toe heeft de staat de Koerden niet volledig uit kunnen roeien, vanaf vandaag zal dat ook niet meer kunnen.
De internationale gemeenschap draagt ook haar verantwoordelijkheid door te blijven zwijgen over de misdaden van de Turkse staat t.o.v. de niet-Turken in het land. Het feit dat Turkije lid is van de NAVO, aan de deur staat van de EU en heel wat verdragen ondertekend heeft om mensen- en volkerenrechten te respecteren, wil niet zeggen dat ze haar agressieve, genocidale politiek mag blijven uitvoeren.
We roepen de Turkse autoriteiten op om te stoppen met de criminalisering van Koerdische politici, mensenrechtenactivisten, journalisten en schrijvers.
We vragen de internationale gemeenschap om de agressie van de Turkse staat te veroordelen en concrete stappen te zetten zodat er ook zichtbare resultaten zijn.
Alle vormen van onderdrukking tegen de Koerdische taal, cultuur, religie en identiteit, moeten stoppen. We kunnen enkel spreken van een democratische samenleving als er op alle vlakken gelijkheid en verdraagzaamheid is t.o.v. elkaar.
Wij, van het Koerdisch Instituut, verklaren onze solidariteit met Kurdî Der, onze partnerorganisatie (samen met Pro-Humanitate, Duitsland en de Universiteit van Krakau, Polen), en haar covoorzitter de heer Ozan Kiliç. We zullen blijven werken aan de democratisering van Turkije, waar talloze etnische en culturele verschillen zijn, verschillen die gerespecteerd moeten worden. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat die verschillen net de belangrijkste schoonheid van het land uitmaken.

L'Etat turc est devenu fou : M. Ozan Kiliç, président de notre organisation partenaire Kurdî-Der, dans le Nord du Kurdistan, a été arrêté !
La lutte kurde s’engage contre le déni d'identité, l'assimilation et l'anéantissement total. Depuis la fondation de l'Etat de la Turquie, de nombreuses langues, cultures, religions et peuples ont été niés, ce qui a amené à leurs disparitions. La politique de l'Etat turc a jusqu'à présent été menée dans ce sens.
Une de ces groupes en danger est le peuple kurde. Il a connu le génocide, le déni et la répression. Mais il a depuis le début mené une lutte sans relâche pour survivre. Cette bataille est encore loin d’être terminée.
L'Etat turc n'a pas donné de possibilité de débat démocratique. Toutes les demandes des Kurdes ont été bafouées dans leurs droits. Depuis les années 90, la lutte des kurdes a été réprimée. Sous le prétexte d’une « lutte contre le terrorisme », des politiciens kurdes ont été arrêtés dans diverses opérations, emprisonnés et punis. De nombreuses organisations politiques, sociales, culturelles et professionnelles ont été jugées, poursuivies et fermées.
C’est dans ce contexte que le 25 mai 2016 M. Ozan Kiliç, le co-président de Kurdî-Der (Centre pour la recherche et la promotion de la langue kurde), notre partenaire pour le projet "Ez Mafen xwe dizanim" (dans le cadre d'Erasmus+ et financé par la Commission Européenne), a été arrêté. Kurdî Der est une organisation légitime et respectée, qui se dédie à la langue kurde. L'arrestation de M. Ozan Kiliç ne fait que confirmer la menace de disparition qui pèse sur cette langue. Elle montre que l'Etat turc ne veut pas voir la réalité et mène la même politique que dans les années de sa fondation, c’est-à-dire, une politique d'assimilation et d'éradication.
L'Etat turc doit changer de toute urgence sa politique à l'égard des autres groupes ethniques et religieux du pays. Pour construire une bonne société démocratique, nous avons besoin d'un processus de démocratisation. Jusqu'à présent, l'Etat n’a pas pu éradiquer les Kurdes complètement, et à partir d'aujourd'hui ça ne sera plus possible.
La communauté internationale a également sa part de responsabilité car elle garde le silence face aux crimes perpétrés par l'Etat turc envers les non-Turcs du pays. Le fait que la Turquie soit membre de l'OTAN, qu’elle soit à la porte de l'UE et qu’elle ait signé de nombreux traités pour respecter les droits humains et des peuples, ne veut pas dire qu'elle puisse continuer à mener ses politiques génocidaires et agressives en toute impunité.
Nous appelons les autorités turques à arrêter la criminalisation des politiciens kurdes, des militants des droits de l'homme, des journalistes et des écrivains.
Nous demandons à la communauté internationale de condamner l'Etat turc, l'état de l'agression et à prendre des mesures concrètes afin qu'il y ait des résultats visibles.
Toutes les formes d'oppression contre la langue kurde, la culture, la religion et l'identité, doivent cesser. Nous ne pouvons parler d'une société démocratique que s’il y a égalité dans tous les domaines et tolérance à l’égard de l'autre.
Nous, de l'Institut kurde de Bruxelles, déclarons notre solidarité avec Kurdî Der, notre organisation partenaire (avec Pro Humanitate, l'Allemagne et l'Université de Cracovie, Pologne), et son co-président M. Ozan Kiliç. Nous allons continuer à travailler à la démocratisation de la Turquie, où les différences doivent être respectées. Nous sommes convaincus que ces différences constituent la beauté et la richesse du pays.

The Turkish State Goes Rogue: the Chair of our partner organization Kurdî-Der in Northern Kurdistan, Mr. Ozan Kiliç, has been arrested!
The Kurdish struggle is committed against identity denial, assimilation and total annihilation. Since the foundation of the Turkish state, many languages, cultures, religions and peoples have been denied and have completely disappeared. The politics of the state have so far been carried out in this way.
One of the peoples in danger are the Kurdish people. They have known genocide, denial and repression. But these people have always conducted a serious struggle for survival. This struggle is still going on.
The Turkish state has given no opportunity for a democratic struggle. All the demands of the Kurds for basic rights have been denied. Since the 1990s the Kurdish struggle has been brutally repressed under the guise of being part of “the fight against terrorism”.
Kurdish politicians were arrested in various operations, imprisoned and punished. Many political, social, cultural and professional organizations have been litigated, prosecuted and closed.
On the 25th May 2016, Mr. Ozan Kiliç, the co-chairman of Kurdî-Der (Center for Research and Promotion of the Kurdish language), our partner for the project "Ez Mafen xwe dizanim" (within the framework of Erasmus+, funded by the European Commission), was arrested. Kurdî Der is a legitimate and respected organization dedicated to the promotion of Kurdish language. The arrest of Mr. Ozan Kiliç demonstrates the nature of the situation when it comes to Kurdish language. It shows that the Turkish state is unwilling to recognize its own reality and that it is going to pursue the same state policy that was followed in its founding years, that is one of denial, assimilation and eradication.
The Turkish state must urgently change its policy with respect to the other ethnic and religious groups in the country. To build a good democratic society, we need a process of democratization. So far the state has not been able to completely eradicate the Kurds, and it will never succeed in this.
The international community also bears responsibility for keeping silent about the crimes of the Turkish state with respect to non-Turks in the country. The fact that Turkey is a member of NATO, that it is at the door of the EU and that it has signed many treaties to respect human and peoples' rights, does not mean that it can continue to carry out its aggressive, genocidal politics.
We call on the Turkish authorities to stop the criminalization of Kurdish politicians, human rights activists, journalists and writers.
We ask the international community to condemn the violence of the Turkish state and to take concrete steps so that there are visible results.
All forms of oppression against the Kurdish language, culture, religion and identity must stop. We can only speak of a democratic society if there is equality and tolerance in all aspects of society.
We, of the Kurdish Institute in Brussels, declare our solidarity with Kurdî Der, our partner organization (along with Pro Humanitate, Germany and the University of Krakow, Poland), and its Co-Chair Mr. Ozan Kiliç. We will continue to work towards the democratization of Turkey, where differences are to be respected. We are convinced that these differences are precisely what makes the country beautiful.
