Immigrants started arriving in Greece during the 1990s mostly from Eastern Europe. Later
on, a large wave from immigrants and refugees from Africa and Asia started arriving. A lot
of them were entering the country illegally and lived inside Greece as undocumented
immigrants. The immigration laws of Greece are very strict and very few immigrants get
recognized as refugees or as legal immigrants. The undocumented immigrants worked in
various manual labor jobs, for extremely few money, always with the fear of deportation.
The situation changed dramatically in 2015, where a large influx of refugees mostly from
Syria started arriving in Greece, with the hope to cross to the rest of the Europe.
As a reflex to the crisis that was caused by the large number of refugees, solidarity
people from Greece started organizing in order the help the refugees and the immigrants in
their journey for a safe home. First gathering of items (clothing, food and health items)
in various spots begun being organized. Then in the September of 2015 the Notara Squat
opened, the first housing squat for refugees and immigrants.

We are calling on all pro-choice people in Ireland to join us.
Their numbers last year were close to 10,000 we can beat that. We CAN get more than 10,000
people onto the streets of Belfast who believe that people who have abortions shouldn't be
sent to jail.
We've had elections this year north and south of the border, more pro-choice politicians
were returned, but it's still not enough. This demand is bigger than any ballot box and it
is now up to us to take what they are withholding from us.
