I finished a new jacket! I love the tweed fringe with pearl. This jacket is not only stylish but comfortable for any occasion. It can be worn with jeans for a causal look or with bright or white pants for a more sophisticated look.
I bought some fabrics from Nippori fabric town in Tokyo a few weeks ago. Everything was 10-20% off! Many fabric shops have a sale 4 times a year. I usually go to Nippori at that time. I made a new jacket with the cotton tweed from there.
I used this pattern: Burda Boucle Jacket #107.
This model is wearing a pink suit in the photo and looks cute! But I’m not confident that I could wear such a bright pink suit. I feel it's a bit too much for me.
So I made the only jacket with a blue tweed. However, I thought it was too SOBER when it was finished. So, I decorated with fringes and faux-pearl embellishment on the edge of my boring jacket. Oh, the jacket completely transformed :)
I mostly didn't change the design. I think Burda patterns have their pocket's positions too low. I raised the pocket's positions this time. I usually sew the pockets last when I use Burda pattern. I added the faux welt pockets at the chest.
How to sew the faux welt pockets with the fringes.
1. Cut two pieces of fabric (1 1/2ins) wide.
2. Sew along the center of the fringe in a small Zig-zag.
3. comb the fabric.
4. Attach the interfacing on the opposite side of the fabric.
5. Stitch the center of the fringe and fabric together. And sew the faux-pearl embellishment.
6. Brush the fringe...Finish!
Making this jacket itself took only 6 hours. However, I attached fringes and faux pearls on the jacket; It took me over 10 hours to finish! I was taking fringes and pearls while watching "American horror story", so I finished all the episodes! I mostly had fun, but I got tired after 10 hours passed.

My efforts have been rewarded. Faux-pearl embellishment and fringe add a cute and contemporary touch. I think it's great as an early summer jacket.
