Fourth day of the CGT congress. The ETUC in the viewfinder of the delegates, but the WSF
does not recipe. Internal competition, federalism wound. A sequence "trade union rights" a
little UFO. A report on the spot, day by day, the blog Communisteslibertairescgt.org. ----
The morning session of the 4th day of the confederal congress opens on the theme 4:
international trade unionism. Delegates explain their work in multinational companies,
their contacts with different countries' unions. A Senegalese friend was invited to speak.
Comrades propose organizing European strikes against austerity or branch, as in public
office. ---- Denunciation of the inauguration of the Congress of the European Trade Union
Confederation (ETUC) this winter in Paris by Hollande and Jean-Claude Juncker is applauded.
The various interventions proposing a return to the World Federation of Trade Unions
(WFTU) also applauded. No more. And it is difficult to measure if it is to support this
demand or support to the overall tone for CGT class struggle.
The rapporteur's answer is that the CGT is campaigning internationally within and outside
the CES / CSI as necessary.
The vote was 9% abstention and 24% against.

Libertaire of March 2016
Who should organize that, not right?
The theme No. 5, is democracy in the CGT. It leads to a confused debate showing the
difficulties in solving the problem of the delimitation of the field of organizing and
restructuring of federations. In short: what do we do when two unions CGT pull the floss
to syndicate the same personnel in the same professional sector? The risk is that these
very real shortcomings, which regularly involve a union against another in court, will
settle one day at the cost of even greater militarization of the CGT, finishing to shoot
down what remains of federalism.
Result of vote: Abstentions: 12%; Against 24%.
The overall vote on the guidance document gives 11% abstention and 30% against! The
national leadership remains under pressure from grassroots unions who obviously want a
more combative orientation.
The new MoU with the CGT departments overseas, allowing collectivize and share Represents
while respecting the independence of the organizations agreed to 94%. The status of
pensioners is 90% adopted the principle syndicated 1 = 1 vote, but the fee goes to 1% as
for assets. Confederal executive committee (CEC) elected without any changes.
March 31, 2016 demonstration against the El Khomri project.

Goodyear refused to come
The evening ended with the union freedoms sequence animated by a "comedy duo" and
"Youtube" sequence... Makes you wonder if Goodyear had no reason to refuse to come , that
management confederal regret announcing that it will prevent the CGT to show solidarity
for trial in October.
While Lille comrades ovation shortly before regretting that the guidance document is so
weak on this, we can only regret that are mentioned several cases of high current, such as
Ford Blanquefort or Lille Hospital. A word about the rampage by police from the local CNT
in Lille that day would also welcome!

On April 13th Pittsburgh anarchists participated in an attack on a Donald Trump campaign
rally. This is a message from some of the organizers of this anarchist contingent as well
as thoughts on our current situation. ---- On April 11th, the Trump campaign announced
plans for two events on the same day in different neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Earlier in
the day he would participate in a “town hall” with Sean Hannity in Oakland, a college
neighborhood, and in the evening would hold a large campaign rally in the downtown area.
Almost immediately, different factions of the Left issued calls for actions and began
planning demonstrations. Shortly thereafter came the all-too-common threats from the Right
of armed confrontation with demonstrators. ---- Actions against Trump’s Oakland event were
called for by various student activist groups on the University of Pittsburgh campus as
well as by WHAT’S UP?!, a local anti-racism group. ANSWER, a front group for the
Pittsburgh chapter of Party for Socialism and Liberation, issued a call for a rally and
march to Trump’s main campaign event in downtown.
Anarchists and autonomous anti-fascists knew from the very beginning that our goal was
full disruption and confrontation with both Trump and his supporters. We felt that
established organizations such as WHAT’S UP?! and ANSWER would both work to disrupt this
goal in favor of their own visions of what a successful anti-racist action should look
like. We chose to organize our own contingent so as to maximize our autonomy and control
of our actions and desires.
Actions against Trump’s events began in the early afternoon in different parts of the
city, but for the purposes of this piece we will focus on the events surrounding his main
campaign rally in the downtown area of Pittsburgh. We choose this focus because it was
here that the main energies of anti-authoritarian organizing were placed, and also because
we feel that it offers a road map for the fight against the white supremacist Right.
The main gathering of anarchists was a few blocks from Trump’s event and was timed to
coincide with the arrival of other marches from different parts of the city. We weren’t
aware of other groups’ intentions, numbers, or desired level of disruption, but we thought
that our best bet was to time our march to meet the other crowds after they had already
arrived at the convention center. This would allow us to bring a surge of our energy and
numbers while at the same time pushing forward with our momentum into the crowd of Trump
supporters to achieve our primary goal of confrontation.
We were successful with this tactic. Our contingent came prepared with a dozen black and
Anti-Fascist Action flags on strong poles and a large black banner. As we arrived at the
convention center, we marched and pushed straight through a crowd of Trump supporters,
knocked aside barricades, and pushed to the main entrance of the building. Many other
demonstrators had already made it that far and were blocking the roads; others followed us
through the hole in the crowd we created. Once our contingent arrived at the entrance,
immediate physical confrontations erupted as we marched directly into the line going into
the building. Trump supporters were tackled, punched, and pepper sprayed as we attempted
to fight our way inside.
During these fights the police moved in, made some seemingly random arrests of those not
involved in the fighting and pepper spraying, and formed a line between us and the group
of Trump supporters. People then lit flares and began to throw objects over the police
into the line of supporters and repeatedly attempted to push through. At this point it was
clear that the rally inside had already begun and the people we were fighting were those
stuck outside, unable to get in.
After about an hour of this, Trump’s rally ended and attendees began to leave out of the
exits. The crowd rushed the exits, following, screaming at, shoving, and pepper spraying
people as they left. The exits were blocked and police inside the convention center
redirected the supporters to doors out of our reach. Despite this, stragglers continued to
find their way into our crowd and were heckled and attacked. The city and county police
eventually donned riot gear and formed a line to clear the streets. Without any more
arrests the crowds dispersed and the event ended.
Our Situation:
We see the rise of Donald Trump as a major aspect of the Right’s direct response to the
Black Lives Matter movement, Barack Obama’s presidency, and what they see as an
existential threat to white supremacy in this country. This reaction from the right wing
has taken other forms, as we have seen with the armed Bundy Ranch standoff, the occupation
of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and the non-fatal shooting of demonstrators
during an anti-police violence demonstration in Minneapolis by white nationalists.
According to The Atlantic, aside from the demographic markers of lower class membership,
whiteness, and low education attainment, the main factor tying Trump’s base together is
support for authoritarianism and white supremacy. The main policy points of Trump’s
campaign have been rooted in the widespread criminalization, detention, and expulsion of
Muslims, Arabs, latin@s, blacks, and other non-whites from the United States.
Support of Donald Trump and by extension these aims is enough to justify oneself as a
target of anti-racist violence.
It is our belief that recent events have marked a shift in the political struggle of this
country. More and more of the populace has fled mainstream political forces for
“outsiders” seen as on the fringe, such as Trump and Bernie Sanders. We see a demarcation
developing between the Left and the Right – between those who support corporate control of
resources, the expulsion of non-Whites, and increased police militarization for urban
pacification, and those who support individual autonomy, collective ownership of
resources, and racial and socioeconomic justice. The inherent bilateral structure of the
American political party system leaves us with bastardized social and political movements
– the “Left” must abandon its Marxist tendencies to fit into a Democratic narrative, while
the “Right” must attempt to fit its authoritarian Judeo-Christian white supremacist
ideology into the Republican establishment.
As we saw inside Trump’s campaign event in Chicago, on the streets of Minneapolis, and in
downtown Pittsburgh the other night, militant physical conflict between these two forces –
between those who wish to maintain white supremacy, and those who wish to see its
abolition, has come into the open and forefront of American political discourse. We see an
opportunity here to forcefully attack both the dominant American political structures
while at the same time fighting back the far-Right tendencies that we see with Donald
Trump’s rise to political fame.
It is our hope that the threat posed by the white supremacist Right, as well as the
exploitation of the opportunities that we speak of, can help our movements to more clearly
place ourselves in the struggle for liberation. Militant self-defense from
authoritarianism can help grant us the individual and collective autonomy necessary for
any liberatory revolt to occur. We see this as a time for libertarian anti-capitalists to
learn to take seriously the threat posed by the new Right and to take the steps necessary
to forcefully fight the structures of white supremacy. This is not a time for the
introspection and critical self-reflection of the popular anti-racist praxis, but a time
for mutual self-defense and collective force against the American white supremacist system
of apartheid.
The time has come to Burn the American Plantation.
– Your comrades from the hills and valleys of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

May 1, 2016: join in expressing our love and our rage as we march to honor immigrant
workers, mothers, locally-born workers, and everyone who struggles against capitalism
every day. We march to show love for neighbors, coworkers, families, friends, and comrades
in the struggle. ---- We have rage against the rich and their lackeys, for the pain,
oppression, exploitation and fear they bring. We have rage against the police for
targeting and murdering Black youth and incarcerating generations of people of color. We
have rage for the prisons that hold our loved ones, stealing lives while perpetuating
poverty, addiction, and trauma, increasing rather than solving crime. ---- We have love
for Black Lives Matter and the resurgent Black Liberation movement, and solidarity with
prisoners organizing from South Bay to Texas.
We have rage for anti immigrant bigots, starting at the top with Donald Trump, who brings
the white supremacist rats out of hiding, emboldening them to act on their prejudice. We
have rage for ICE, for the detentions and deportations ripping apart families and communities.
We have love for immigrant and refugee communities, asserting the freedom to work, live,
and love where they choose. We have love for Muslims who face persecution and xenophobia.
We have rage against the rich, the bureaucrats and the cuts they demand. We have rage
against the MBTA’s fare hikes; rage against landlords, investors and politicians pushing
us out of our neighborhoods with rent increases and evictions, destroying Boston’s working
class communities. The casino is already here: investors and developers gamble with our
lives every day.
We have love for students, teachers and their communities united in defense of public
education. From the Boston student walkout to protests by parents at Kennedy Elementary
School, grassroots struggle is showing that solidarity can beat cuts.
We rage against precarious work and low wages. We have love for unions and the fight for
$15 an hour and more.. We have love for the fight for a real living wage, and for a future
where access to life’s necessities isn’t tied to money.
We have rage for the politicians and bosses who scapegoat trans people, who use them as
political cannon fodder and teach fear and hate, rather than love and understanding. We
have love for trans and queer folks, and for the struggle against a narrow patriarchal system.
We need socialism that comes from below, self-managed by the people, not parties or
politicians. Let’s build a movement of revolutionary love and solidarity. Let’s unite in
our rage to take down common enemies, build our common future. No turning back.
We invite everyone who shares our feelings of love and rage to walk with us this May Day.
We will gather at 3pm in Bellingham Square Chelsea and march to East Boston with the May
1st Coalition. Look for our banner!

We call on peoples movements across the world to mobilise for justice and real democracy
on the weekend of May 15th, 2016 for a #GLOBALDEBOUT. We invite you to come to Paris for
an International Gathering of movements at Place de la Republic on May 7 and 8. --- Today
#46mars (April 15) is just two weeks after one million people mobilized in Paris and the
movement Nuit Debout continues to grow. In numerous French and foreign cities, #Nuitdebout
(Night on our Feet) is a light in the dark, it gives testimony to our hopes, dreams and
common rebellions. Those who have taken the squares in the past and those who are taking
them NOW: we know something is happening. ---- The struggle for a better world is Global
and without boarders, let's construct together a global spring of resistance! Join to us
on May 7th and 8th in Paris at Place de Republique to debate, to share our experiences and
to begin to construct together common solutions. There we will strategise and prepare for
an international action on MAY 15th (#76mars). On this date we will occupy, mobilise and
take direct action together across the world.
Nuit Debout's first aim is to create a space for the 'convergence of stuggles'. We hope
this convergence will go beyond France and spread worldwide. There exist numerous links
between social movements in all four corners of the world; from unemployment to the
imposition of the financial markets, from the destruction of the environment to war and
unacceptable inequality.
In repsonse to a system based on competition and individualism, we answer with the
solidarity, participatory democracy and collective action. Our differences are not a
source of divisions, but rather our strength, as we complement each other struggles. We
are neither listened nor represented by the current economic system.
Together we retake public space and politics because politics is a matter of all of us.
Now is not the moment retreat, but to come together for change.
We are the 99 % and we are here to reject the financial and poltical rule of the 1 % and
their world. We are here to take back our cities, our places of work and our lives.
On May 7th and 8th, let's come together to Paris to the square of the Republic!
On the day of May 15 we will rise up together for a global day of action.
#NuitDebout everywhere!
#GlobalDebout!

From Trump in the US to Pegida in Europe, the recent resurgence of right-wing and fascist
politics challenges all of us to develop stronger and stronger anti-racist social
movements. From casual, everyday racism to state policies of border enforcement, racism
comes in many forms in Ireland. What are the major issues faced by Travellers, by people
living in Direct Provision, and by those fleeing conflicts in Africa and the Middle East?
What can we do to advance the struggle against racism in all its forms? ---- In this panel
we brought together a variety of activists from migrant, Traveller, and refugee solidarity
networks to discuss experiences of challenging racism in everyday society and in state
policy, and to share perspectives on developing solidarity in the struggle for survival,
recognition, and respect.
SPEAKERS
Eileen Flynn is a Traveller rights activist.
Lucky Khambule is a member of the Anti-Racism Network and the Kinsale Road Asylum Centre.
He will discuss “Dismantling Direct Provision”.
Caoimhe Butterly is a migrant justice ally and has spent the past months working with
independent medical teams and self-organised refugee solidarity structures in Greece,
Calais and the Balkans.
