Who would have thought ?
BUSH
RUBIO
The entire world seems to be gunning for Donald Trump and the rest of the entire world wonders what it is that they want to keep from the people. The Pope, the Koch Brogether, the guy who owns the Chicago Baseball team and founded TD Ameritrade. Why do they not want an independent minded President who is not beholden to anyone. That should be self evident by this time. They want to be in control and they want their candidates to be bought and paid for. It is almost unimaginable that Jeb Bush could have spent 150 million on such an awful inept campaign.
Years back there was some story about Bill Clinton as governor o Arkansas, who refused to raise the weight limits on state highways to allow for heavier trucks to traverse the roads. This move on his part offended a large timber processor who wanted heavier trucks , so they withdrew their financial and actual support. Actual support is when the employer tells the employee who to vote for. Clinton lost his next bid. Reportedly, he was revisited and was told this is how it works get on board or get gone. He supposedly got on board. So on board that he was regarded as money in the bank and money in the bank is what appealed most to the Clintons, which is not hard to see given their history, post White House. Two people from nowhere ville parlayed politics into a means by which they became fabulously wealthy. And is rumored to have learned the single most important lesson in modern American politics , take the money and listen to the one who is paying the bill.
Wings
Flapping
This story is not often told except within the Democratic Party which reportedly trots it out to all would be candidates. The point is made, platitudes and posturing are for the folks, but cash is king and do not forget it.
The Republicans has come to this practice more slowly, but once embraced have gone all in. So tey serve up replicas of the Obama, Clinton model albeit spouting conservative platitudes. Neither Cruz nor Rubio are in reality any different.
Cruz's employment history is almost as non existent as Rubio's. Worked as a Judicial Law Clerk at US Supreme Court largely on the strength of having attended Harvard Law School, Had on year of private legal experience and then went to work for the FTC, appointed by Bush at Solicitor General of Texas, ran for Texas Attorney Genral, , elected US Senator in 2012. This guy is another career politician. With connection to big money and even bigger ego and ambition.
Which brings us to Trump, with his warts and bawdiness, he is the only guy who has any sort of non political track record. The people have gotten so turned off to being lied to by slippery tongued politicians of dubious leadership quality that the worm has turned. Wait until congress figures this out, they will be quaking in their boots.
